Small Creek+ Heavy Rainfall Equals-6 Dec '04 5:27 pm
A few hours before this picture was taken the creek was sedately meandering over it's rocky bed, making it's usual burbly watery sounds. When this pic was taken it had become a raging torrent of water hurling large boulders over the concrete ford which lies submerged to the left and below the bridge.
The morning of the beginning of the heavy rainfall I was watering my tomatoes...NGH wandered past and said " Do you think you need to do that, it's suposed to rain this afternoon"
My response was to dismiss his concerns with the famous last words"It'll only be a light shower if it does"
The creek is not far from our house but we are on rising ground so although we have had a few scares in the past we are not really in any danger..unlike 1902 when the residents of the old cottage which stood where our new home now sits, were looking at water lapping only a foot away from their back door.. so it can happen at anytime.. quite a scarey thought.
