flowers,hearts and butterflies26 Jun '07 2:10 pm
I have just finished a quilt with flowers hearts and butterflies hand sewn on it -it has taken two years because I decided to make it reversible -silly me !!
It has been made for my Wellington granddaughter. Her parents decorated her room before she was born, with very little money and the room was featured in 'NZ My home and Garden'a couple of years ago.I made the dark blue Roman blinds.

wall hangings26 Jun '07 2:16 pm
I thought I'd put in two small wall hangings I did some time ago.
The first is using a reproduction of an old American flour bag -'Indian corn'
The second is of a cat -the blue and yellow flowers are irises.

Your quilts...26 Jun '07 5:06 pm
are beautiful. I love all three but I am sure the most rewarding is the one for your grandchild and you did such a lovely job on it. It will be a special treasure of hers when she is older. I have always wanted to learn to quilt, but don't think I possess the patience. You are very talented.

You have a lot to be proud of there, Dixie! Such a nice job you have done. Please post a close-up of your quilts. I would like to see some extreme close-ups of some of the details.
So wonderful!

close-ups26 Jun '07 8:47 pm
You can see the close-ups if you click on the photo. It will fill the page.
I did the quilt applique with buttonhole stitch and some of them with two threads tacking stitches.I also hand quilted around each thing to make them look three dimensional.
Thank you for your interest and encouragement.

Just Gorgeous!!26 Jun '07 11:52 pm
Dear Dixie, talented friend!! One more time ,I am SO amazed by your great talent to create such beautiful artistic things, that also need enormous patience and time,to be created!! My mother was like you , "golden handed", while she was parallely working as a dentist --- and she was a great dentist, too! Congratulations, my good friend!!

Beautiful quilts28 Jun '07 5:10 am
Dixie, your quilts are splendid! I have a sister-in-law who does beautiful quilts like yours and I have always been so envious of them, but not envious enough to put in the time and hard work required to create one myself. I once tried to cut out some very small quilt pieces with regular scissors and ended up with a damaged nerve in my thumb. It took several months to return to normal and my quilting foray ended there. I truly admire those who have both the talent and the patience to create such beautiful works of art. I know your grandaughter will treasure it always.

My god they are beautiful! I would so love to be able to do that but I lack the ability, I think...lol Ive never tried so Im guessing I'll never do what you do. I like to get my hands dirty in the soil and make things grow.
Your grandaughter will love that blanket when she grows up and can see the time and love that you put into it.
May your fingers fly and your needle create a world of heaven.
