What is your favorite rose? HA like there is one...14 Feb '07 10:18 am
I would say that all of mine are my favorites...but I fell completely in love with Distant Drums. The fragrance is awesome and the colors are just stunning. To tell you the truth I love them all. When I first got into roses all I thought about were HT's and couldnt get into the Austins or the other types. I on accident got Home Run instead of Honey Dijon and I love it now. Distant Drums was another eye opener for me. I loved the pic I saw on Garden Web but it was such a splendid thing when It bloomed I took hundreds of pix. I had a spendid bloom from Let Freedom Ring that just was georgous...it should be on my list of roses. Im a sucker for them all but there are a few that Im debating on removing. Kordes Perfecta is a blackspot magnet and Im not all that happy with the rose, but Im giving it one more year. Pascali is one that is going bye bye...the roses were tiny and its leggy and unattractive so if anyone likes this rose its up for a good home and will send it and pay all shipping costs to get it to a good home. Its disease free and healthy I just dont like it.
Other than that Im trying to fill another bed and am ready to be enabled by my new friends. So any one have a special favorite?

I have probably about fifty that are my favourite rose! It's a bit like me telling each of my six cats, terribly seriously, that they are the best cat. It would be fun, though, to absolutely have to pick absolutely one rose. Pretending that it was the only rose to be left in the world, or something like that. I wonder how many would choose a white rose? I wouldn't!
I'd love to read what others might choose. I'm leaving my options open...

Well I've really been thinking -David Austins probably ,Elena ? my new apricot scentasia ? Leander ? Buff Beauty ? Each one is so special ,and I can remember when and where I got it ,and some particular roses remind me of special people ...
However my absolute FAVE is 'Albertine (Have I mentioned it B4 ?)

A brilliant pink, and a golden yellow...17 Feb '07 10:17 pm
Me, too, it is so difficult to choose... They are like children ; they are all beloved.. But, I think, two of them are my secret darlings... They are both scented Floribundas and extremely healthy : Amber Queen, and Manou Meilland.
And, Dixie, I can see why you love your Albertine so much. She looks so tender and refined.

My favourite....19 Feb '07 8:43 pm
A David Austin for me too - Graham Thomas. I love the colour and form - doesn't grow too large, unlike Dixie's favourite, Albertine, which has an unusual tone of pink with lovely shaped flowers, but grows HUGE! I like to grow Graham Thomas with blue clematis - H F Young is a lovely match. Blue and gold are Otago colours too, so I'm being loyal to Otago with my colour scheme.
Of course then there is Westerland, Dublin Bay, and an oldie, Jaques Cartier - are we allowed runners-up?

If I could only pick one then it would probably be Penelope, but Meg comes a very close second.
