Gone to seed

My mother's garden6 Jan '07 1:43 pm
I'll admit to not being sure which forum to put this in so I hope this is ok.
Over Christmas and New Year we went to my parents for the holiday break. This may have been the last Christmas we'll spend there as my folks are planning on putting their house on the market this spring.
(Any takers??? )
They live about 10 minutes out of Warkworth in the 'winterless north'. It's a really good climate for growing things. I think the only downside would be that the roses wouldn't get all their 'bugs' killed off as it wouldn't get cold enough, and they seem more susceptible (sp?) to rose diseases so you can't always grow the varieties you'd like.
Anyhoo, without further ado... me mum's garden (with her permission to show it to you all).

Pond1.JPG
This pond is fairly big for a medium sized place (approx 1/4 to 1/3 acre section). We have photos (somewhere) of my Dad in a kayak on it.

We're basically circling our way around the garden. And so the tour continues...

Anna... your Mum's garden is delightful! I was born in Warkworth and of course we go through there everytime we go to Dargaville...Warkworth certainly has the right climate for many plants.
I love the pond with all the water lillies...always a grand sight!
I have always loved Busy Lizzies, but here the winter puts paid to them and I have no where to over winter any cuttings... I have one lot in a basket which should be hanging under the eaves...but am not permitted to put in hooks! So it is just sitting as far out of the hot sun as I can get it right now...
The property looks like it has taken a lot of work to get it looking so lush...lovely
