My new floribunda roses were planted out from their containers nearly a month ago and they seem to be thriving. Should I now prune them and how hard? Please remember I am in northern europe.. Gerry

Pruning Roses20 Aug '06 10:51 am
It would be coming up to your Autumn ,wouldn`t it ?
The new roses are tender ,so I would only dead -head them ,and approaching winter ,let them grow hips .Allow them to get established for the first year or so - cut out any dead canes ,but don`t prune them hard at all .What varieties do you have ,Gerry ?

Hej Dixie, thank you for your reply. I have "Nina Weibull" "Schackenborg" and "Fairy Dance" and there should be a picture of the first mentioned at the end of this letter. I have just taken the picture and will return to the garden to do the dead heading right now. What do you mean when you say 'hips'? Regards Gerry

Welcome to this site , dear Gerry!
Living in Belgium, we share almost the same gardening conditions --maybe a little drier and milder here. I absolutely agree with dear Dixie. But if you need some more useful information on Roses' cultivation, and especially on your baby Nina Weibull, just have a look at this same section, same page , on "Nina Weibull Roses" topic. Good luck!
