This photo ws taken on the Easter weekend last year. The bluebells covered these woods like a carpet - a beautiful sight! I can't wait for spring to kick in fully again here in the UK - the daffodils are just popping their heads up, and the cherry blossom is trying hard, but the grey sky offers no promise yet

Bx, they are truly English bluebells, aren't they? I on my colonial ignorance only found out recently that there are different types of bluebells - my dreams of English blue glades beneath oak trees have been shattered - I think I've planted the 'other' type!

wow.....that picture is lovely!
I have the wrong ones too....I think they are the Spanish ones? They grow rather short ....at least they used to, before one of my cats found them

Essex or Suffolk Countryside26 Mar '04 10:35 am
While bx's relatives argue over if this photo was taken in Essex or Suffolk - heres a constable-like scene near Polstead. This is just before the start of the bluebell walk in the first photo and is from Easter 2003.
The sheep remind me of new zealand but there's too much green in the grass to be anywhere near mooseys garden
Bx and I are buying a digital gardening camera shortly and spring is just around the corner here in London. Expect Visits to Kew Gardens and the chelsea flower show.
Hmmm.... Think of all the interesting English insect life that remains to be photographed!

Eggy, Sure looks like a peaceful place with all the sheep. Lovely countryside! It will be a while before we see that much green here.

Bluebells near Kaiapoi13 Apr '04 5:51 pm
I wouldn't know exactly where, but apparently my grandfather (Morgan Williams) took my father for a walk in the pine plantations near Kaiapoi and pointed out the bluebell patch where he wanted his ashes sprinkled.
It didn't happen, but the is a road there named after him and I'd suspect it was in that vicinity.
I don't know how many plantations still exist in the Kaiapoi/Pines Beach area so maybe the bluebell patch is long gone as well. (Grandad died in 1970)
