29 Jul '06 3:49 pm It's the Year of the Dog. So dogs should get special treatment this year. I am pleased to announce that Montgomery Dog from South Africa is the first out-of-house winner of the Animal of the Month. Owner-gardener Jack may have other ideas, though - I hear that Montgmery is in dog-disgrace for a carpet accident. Oh well! Such is a dog's life!
Congratulations, Montgomery - it is a huge honour.
30 Jul '06 5:44 am Congratulations Montgomery ...I have often wondered if Queen Anne of mahogany furniture fame really really did have legs like that too .Montgomery is in illustrious company .

Many thanks from Montgomery
31 Jul '06 12:32 am With uncharacteristic modesty Montgomery asked me to convey his sincere appreciation for this honour. However he seemed a little piqued, and when questioned admitted that all the fuss about his legs did worry him. He maintains the reason why none of the neighbours have actually taken a shotgun to him to date has nothing to do with his legs (other than that he can run very fast when called upon to do so). Rather it is his personality and charm which has won the day , and he asks all of you to look a little deeper, and not judge him on his exterior only - or for that matter on his posterior as the neighbours sometimes tend to do.
