What a joy it has been to wake up this morning (Thursday) and find all the beauty in this website -- The gorgeous fresh flowers of Liza`s garden ,Christopher gnome`s hard work showing results ,and everyone`s precious blooms - it is like being given flowers personally ! Flowers will fade , ,so The real beauty is from the people who bring such hope and optimism and love to us all ,from all around the world .
White flowers do indeed bring a garden to life .I had 'philadelphus 'at my other garden ,and dearly wish to get another plant ,as its perfume is so heady .

Speachless! I am29 Jun '06 5:49 am
Oh my dear Liza! What a wonder of botanical beauties you have. perfect in every way. The White Roses are gorgeous, but my heart is leaping with joy over the Shasta Daisy displays, as they are my most beloved flower.
Little Philippe is like a Pixie or a Sprite. How beautiful! Reminds me of when my babies were born. Brings a tear to my eye. And now my boys are 19 and 21 years old. Some things you never forget.
Deeply moved by your post.
Christopher

This morning I drove over to Hamilton ,and went to 'Wairere 'Rose nurseries to get 'Cecile Brunner ' for the fairy garden .I was so delighted to see some 'philadelphus 'there ,and bought one ,not very expensive at all .It is double white ,which is gorgeous .Thank you Liza for reminding me that I desperately wanted one !

Replying to your comments and more...1 Jul '06 4:43 am
Dixie:Dear friend, I just wanted to do what you just said: To offer my flowers and the joy they emanate to you all -- and I'll continue doing it ! And discuss any gardening sort of things about them, if anybody wishes...Because , I know, that we are all here in love with the same flowers! That's why we are so happy with each others' flowering photos! And I am personally so happy , when I discover some of my garden's plants in other gardens! And so inspired by other plants , natives of other lands...that I don't have ...I'm so happy you adopted a Philadelphus little tree (..meaning, "loving one's brother ", by the way...).
Christopher: Dearest Christopher, I was so moved by your reaction! I apologize to all for my delay in replying your sweet posts! Thank you for your botanical comments AND the tenderest comments concerning little Philippe! I have felt already how much you love children! Your own profession has to do with children, offering love to them!It would be inevitable not being a tender and affectionate father and a gardener. And, you know what?? When I got married, I was holding Shasta Daisies and not Roses! Because me,too, I am tenderly and eternally attracted to them, since I was little!
Jacqueline: Oh! Jacqueline! You did it again! What a honour these pink....human Roses! In our In Love Diary! Oh, my! I AM SO in love with both of them!! I'll send the photo to my daughter, because her dream is a cute little girl after Philippe! And me so crazy about having a little girl when being first pregnant! You know what? I will dedicate to them my next flowering post : the tenderest of colours: the colour pink! Thank you for your tender, affectionate enthusiasm, dear friend! IT IS SO IMPORTANT exchanging love and affection these cruel days...
Bambi: Dear Bambi, I know how you feel about adopting Roses: I was like you, 5 years ago, when a trustful friend suddenly told me: " Aren't you feeling awkward in such a colourful perennial garden not having even ONE single Rose??". And the day afterwards , I rushed to the bookstores in order to discover all the Roses ' secrets! Because I had been freed by my old attachment to the restrictive belief , that Roses are leggy, thorny and always sick! And thorny , they ARE! Come to see my hands! Like playing with ten kittens at a time! But since I love them, they are not leggy, and only sometimes sick; that's normal...
Thank you so much for your botanical comments!

This has been a very sweet and tender thread ,and I too have been moved by the expressed thoughts in the words and the flowers that converse too !
I have a white rose garden ,though I prefer roses amongst the daisies and delphiniums as you others have ,but I only have a small amount of space in the sun ;Iceberg and Pascali were already here ,and I bought a delightful miniature standard Sparkler ,which is still blooming in Winter !

Dear Dixie! I would love so much, that other gardeners follow your example! To show us their own treasures they are in love with in this Diary!
They are splendid your white blooming plants! I feel so close to your garden, when I know that Iceberg lives there, too! The white garden looks fabulous! So bright and tender!
Is it possible to post us a close-up of your dear Sparkler(what a lovely name for a Rose!)?? For I have never seen any. He must be gorgeous!

Sparkler2 Jul '06 7:18 am
I was visiting the Dunedin Botanical gardens a couple of years ago , when I noticed a mass of dazzling white roses near the cafe . I wrote down their name label in my notebook - - -'Sparkler', and bought a miniature standard when I came here ,to stand at the corner of the stone path .It is a healthy patio rose ,nearly thornless ,and has masses of little flowers all year .It is nearly pruning time ,so will take a close - up next Summer .
Dear Liza ,I love your 'sleeping baby' photo - I had not thought of photographing the children asleep -one always tries to get them smiling ,but to capture the sweet innocence is a special moment indeed .Babies and flowers go together .Two little flower blossoms for Jacqueline .
