With the rainey weather, plants in the house are beginning to build-up. Rose can't plant things for me...but she likes to think she can keep watch over "my babies". She looks like she means business, doesn't she? Ha ha ha...what do you DO with such a cat? (( ))

Cats are eminently suitable as sentinels.
Minka is keeping an eye on the evening meal preparation.

Rosa and Minka!30 May '06 6:15 pm
Dear Sjoerd, in the specific photo, I find, that...."your babies" look more beautiful than your darling Rosa! Because they know, you'll give them a permanent home in your beautiful garden at any moment now! I think, the best photo of Rosa is the one with her beautuful sister. By the way, I thought it was only myself calling my plants ..."my babies"!
And, dearest Dixie, howcome you never talked to us about your adorable Minka before! She is such a beautiful lady! How old is she? Because she looks quite young. Has she ever had babies?

How did you come to name your beautiful sentinal Minka? I have only heard that name once before and it belonged to someone I went to Secondary School with 30+ years ago!

Heh heh...Liza....shhhhhhh...I knoooow. I try not to call them that in public, but it just slipped-out.
Well, I AM fond of those plants and I want to give them every chance. Personally, I found my plantlets weren't looking all that good (I think they've been inside too long, now). Oh well, they say that sun is on the way (again), Ha ha ha.
WOW Dixie...isn't Minka a pretty thing! I haven't seen a cat with those markings with long hair but one other time.
I am also curious how you came by it's name.

I love those cats. I showed my wife and she swooned with admiration. She is a big time cat lover, and, I think your cats have convinced my wife to join here.

My special companion , Minka ,passed away several years ago ,but she was so dear to me ,that she always has a place in my heart. Her mother was a posh pedigree silver cat ,who had a brief fling with a ginger tom ,from the other side of the tracks. So that is how I came to have Minka - a very intelligent and sweet -natured cat.Her name ? - -I love listening to the rich warm voice of Ivan Rebrofv (sp?)and one of his songs is about 'Minka' . She was attacked one night by a stray cat ,and got a blood infection which eventually killed her .

This is my vegetable garden at my former home.
The rose is 'deep secret' .The deck chair is one I found that someone had thrown away ,so I brought it home ,scrubbed it , painted ,and recovered it .It is in the photo just for an artistic decoration ,really .REAL Gardeners never laze around in deck chairs ....weeds to remove, plants to plant ,plans to make !!!
Dixie.

Thanks Dixie, for your explanation of how Minka got her name. She was a beautiful cat. What a shame that she had to die of septicemia. It must have been awful for you at the time. Belated condolences.
I have said that Minka was beautiful...but as cat-lovers all know, it's the personality that is everything. I'll bet Minka had a good one, didn't she?
Thanks again...

My goodness Dixie, you really did cram some veggies into that plot, didn't you! It looks really good. It's a nice touch to have some flowers around too.
That deck chair recovery job turned-out pret-ty good, didn't it? I do like a good chair in the lottie. chuckle
