Beautiful Amaryllis,and Easter in a Japanese/Korean style !19 Apr '06 9:09 am
Dear Jaqueline!
How interesting to know (:in the Cottage Garden Diary) a little about the way you celebrate Easter in your country! And since I admire --- and eat!! ---the light and healthy Japanese kitchen specialties ,I directly admire the...chefs of your family! I have also tasted the warmth and specialties of some good Korean Restaurants in Athens many years ago.But Chinese! Once every month --at least-- my family tastes this gourmet, delightful kitchen! Well! Your family has many talented chefs , I guess...
In my country we just colour the eggs scarlet red, and we cook lamb, in a special Easter soup called "magiritsa" -- the first course -- and then grilled or in the oven with potatoes, accompanied by Greek salad.
The adventure of your beautiful Amaryllis shocked me and pleased me at the same time.. What a neighbour! But she is saved and SO gorgeous!
Thank you for the warm, human expressions of your heart for me!..I feel I am humbly flattered...
And ...I wish the best for your good dog, never getting on the nerves of certain overeacting , agressive neighbours... Generally, I wish you never to have such neighbours,...poor , unhappy creatures...
My love for now! Cheers!
P.S.
I should add, that I decided to create a separate customs/ethics Diary topic in order to especially reply to you, since what I was going to write, had nothing to do with a cottage garden, or our Cottage Garden... |

Not chefs, just ordinary cooks!19 Apr '06 8:59 pm
LOL! Sorry to have led you to conclude differently! I thought the phrase 'eat all you can' is common language worldwide and you'd know what it meant. In my country, there are lots of restaurants and cafes offering 'high tea' or 'eat all you can' buffet style, which offers its diners to feast on a great variety of food-fare (Malaysian &/or other international cuisine), desserts/cakes/ice-creams, etc for lunch from 12pm - 3 or 4pm or dinner from 6 - 9.30pm. at a very reasonable charge, though some eateries at posh hotels do overcharge, I think! You can eat as much as you want during the 3-4 hours on condition that you do not waste.
So, on such occassions like Easter, Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Chinese New Year (by the way, I'm a Malaysian Chinese) or whenever our 'pocket is loaded', my spouse and I would invite our family members (sometimes close relatives and friends too) to meet and celebrate at restaurants offering such treats. No planning of menu, no food preparations and cooking, no washing, no hosting, just eat, fellowship and enjoy/be jolly with each others presence! And the food galore is remarkable, beyond my meagre and humble cooking!
My pet dog's name is Maxi, about 1½ years old. A joy to be with! So adorable and playful, loves to be fed from our palms and to be stroked/coaxed to eat (big bully, heh!) Some pictures of him here, especially for you, my dear friend! http://peacockflower.blogspot.com/2005/11/miniature-pinscher-or-toy-manchester.html |
