Dear Mary,I stumbled across your site while looking to purchase a few David Austin roses. I returned from a month long vacation ("holiday" as you New Zealanders say) in your country. The weather was wonderful and gardens were beautiful. Here in Houston it is very hot and humid; during the summer we don't always get an abundance of rain and then other times we do.I truly enjoyed browsing your website and wanted to let you know. Happy Gardening,Brandi from Houston

Dear Moosey, How I have so loved to walk through your gardens via the web. This has given me great joy. We here in my gardens are haveing a heat wave with a high today of maybe 26 F. For the last 2 weeks we have been in a deep freeze of below zero highs and with no snow cover. ( very unusuall for us ) I have koi in a pod that is frozen on top with a bubbler to keep a hole in the ice. The white tailed deer think this is there drinking fountain. Quite a site to see them slip sliding around. I so loved your native plant the phormium and plan to purchase an apricot colored one to be kept in a large container which will be added to my tropical indoor rainforest come winter. My husband is in New Zealand now. And apparently you have had a change in weather as he was told to bring short sleeved shirts and is now shopping for a warm jacket with your temperature a 45 F. He was sent out to do some trout fishing via helicopter near some shear cliffs. Loved the helicopter ride. Fishing was poor. He lives to fish. So felt bad. He is there on a work assignment checking out some forest trees I think. I so wanted to join him. New Zealand must be the garden capital of the world. Wishing you a very quick and speedy recovery. Sue

I found out about your website via the UK, Country Living magazine. Your web page is inspiring. My region is notorious for rain, so each summer is short and presents a challenge to bring colour and interest back into the garden. I do yearn for the NZ climate, as I'm originally from Paraparaumu. My partner and I have been in Scotland since the end of 1996 and for the last three years, we have been fixing up our first house together. The garden is evolving after much chucking out, weeding and mulching. I'm at the stage of introducing more planting, and adding structures for extra interest for plants to scramble over. That's why I looked at your pergolas with great interest today! All the very best with your op tomorrow, don't overdo the rushing back into gardening scenario. I went through a similar situation last August, and it does take a couple of weeks.

Hello there.....I quite by chance came upon your website as I was seeking an answer to my problem with mould and mildew on my agapanthus and cliveas. Our weather is quite the opposite to where I think you are. Where exactly are you? We are in drought over here with bushfires etc. I became wonderfully distracted with your glorious garden- and your excellent site - so interesting.Cheers, Marionps....any suggestion regarding my troubled plants? Thanks

Dear Moosey, So good to see new diary entries. Just finished reading Dec. entries and am very envious of all the lovely summer flowers you have growing while I'm freezing my butt off here in Canada. So great to see these wonderful photos this time of year. You mentioned you're reading a lot and Harry Potter, so I guess you also enjoying these H.P. stories. I can hardly wait for the 5th book that's due out this June or July (winter reading for you I guess.) Again, great hearing from you. Happy gardening, Moosey. Jo-Anne

Dear Moosey, I sure miss seeing new entries in your garden diary but I do realize that in New Zealand you are very busy with your garden, etc. Here, in Canada, any gardening done now by most Canadians is mainly on windowsills and in greenhouses. I really miss being able to tend to my flowers and herbs, and the garden looks very dead now under the snow and ice. Had a lovely surprise last week and discovered a small purle violet blooming happily in a sheltered spot in the snow! Hope you and your family have all the best in 2003.

Hi moosey I first visited your site a year ago looking for inspiration for a rose garden. I am coming to Christchurch end of February & would love to visit your garden for real - but I guess the roses will be well past their best. I did get my border planted with some gorgeous old varieties & cant wait to see how they perform this summer - though I dont know why I am thinking of roses when it is minus 4 outside!!!

I stumbled over your charming website and have been enthralled by it. Our garden is not as extensive as yours, but we have about all we can say grace over. I will keep checking in occasionally to see any new additions.

Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow . . . do you know the rest of the nursery rhyme? I've just revisited your website so masterfully designed by your son. It is the New Year in the Heartland. I still have not visited all your links, each one promising to be more delightful. I decided to sign in because I realized we have so much in common other than gardening. My husband and I raise Montadale sheep, I also am a musician, we are about the same age, I am a Master Gardener, and we both share the love of gardening. Do you do much with heaths and heathers? I am also interested in mazes. I would very much enjoy hearing from you.

Happy New Year Moosey....Found your website by chance...looking for information on seaweed recycling. It was a pleasure and delight to click on each flower and animal photo. I have taken photos of every possible flower I have come across over numerous years and so appreciate all your efforts. I hope your personal lifestyle is as wonderful as your web site, which must truly be a dream come true.

Hello My name is Deborah Jones, was on the net looking for spring flowers. Came here visited your gallery. Awesome pictures. Mostly saw red x's. If I clicked on the x then saw a picture. If the information is not correct place above its because all I'm seeing is those x's and the rest is guessing. |
