Hi, You'll laugh when I say that my section could fit on top of a postage stamp, however this is my first house and between study and my three year old the garden is my haven!! So far I've been ripping stuff out left right and centre, the previous owner seemed to have a passion for plants with red berries (horror abound when I found Hannah with a handfull of them!!) and plants with very blood thristy thorns so out they come, luckly my mother is a mad gardener winning street awards etc so I tend to do my garden centre visits to her garden and nick stuff all the time!! My latest project is a very large (for the size of the section vege garden, living in the same area do you have any tips on what plant varieties to grow, in fact what to grow and when to grow them? I just finished clearing the spot today, it was covered in ferns and natives most of which have been transplanted to the spots where I had ripped out the other plants! So I am keen to see the plot producing yummy fresh veges for the two of us. Hope you can help. PS Your son has done a fantastic job on the website, I'm most impressed.

Hi Moosey I am from sunny South Africa and stumbled upon your website through google researching for a nursery/landscaping job for my 23 year old son. I love your site and can see that you are a true lover of nature (like my son). He has a natural feeling and flair for plants, gardening, landscaping etc. and wants to go and "see the world". We have a small townshouse garden which he developed expertly and which I enjoy a lot. Want to say, you seem to be a very nice person to have as a friend - loving and free (nature lovers have free spirits). I am fulltime employed at a black University and do not see as much of nature as I would like to do. Love Ria

What a glorious garden to ramble in. Thank you. I garden on one paltry acre, north of Boston and just south of the New Hampshire border. I will remind myself of your twelve months' weed season the next time I want to grumble about our freezing winters. I identify deeply with the recurrent theme of mulching/losing garden tools, radios, etc! (Some of my tools have been composted and recovered a year or two later) The trait must go with the gardening DNA sequence in our cells. And can one truly garden without pets? Only one of my three cats is an outdoor fellow, but he hunts everything from field mice, voles, rabbits, muskrats, and snakes. (The latter sensibly played dead, and slithered away when Daniel lost interest) The two dogs, German Shepherd ladies, stand guard while I trundle about with my wheelbarrow, and warn me whenever a suspicious vehicle drives by the house. This is usually the United Parcel Service truck--the Postal Service truck generally doesn't come into the driveway, so is not viewed as an automatic threat! I'll be awaiting the next diary installment eagerly, and even think about persuading my own resident Computer Genius (daughter) to assist me with my own web site. Good gardening to you. Betsy (and Daniel, Tina and Max--and Sasha and Donna the GSLs)
