Recent developments28 Feb '07 9:54 am
I got three new photos developed today .
The first is of the entrance to the fairy garden .There has been heavy rain which always brings down piles of cedar needles .
I have two bowls of bizzy lizzies (can't think of their proper name ) each side of the entrance 'bridge'The grass in the background is an australian native which I am pleased with. Dixie

A fork in the path.28 Feb '07 10:06 am
The paths go in a figure eight ,the centre path being the grandchildren stepping stones .This is where the paths meet at the back of the cedar. I made the sign from some old bits of treated wood ,and managed to find some spotted paint in a little shop on the coast .

What a wonderful bunch14 Mar '07 8:54 am
Y'all seem like such a supportive group. I came online searching for fairy garden ideas for my children. They are strong believers in fairies and with our recent move I thought that we could entice our fairy from our old house to come here with a special garden. So we've been online searching for ideas and I found this forum. I'm so glad I did because now I'm rearing to go! I'll be checking here frequently to solidify our fairy garden plan

Michelles fairy garden .17 Mar '07 8:28 am
Please let us know your plans ,Michelle .I managed to find odds and ends for the garden quite cheaply with my eyes open and imagination buzzing ! Have you found Garden Gnome's writings and photos on these forums yet ? He has a brilliant and creative imagination ,and skills to bring his ideas to life - --BTW GG Where are you ?
A couple of days ago another storm brought down some of the cedar branches ,and a huge one crashed down into the fairy garden -we dragged it out yesterday and found only a little bit of damage done -mainly my two granny bonnets which I hope will recover as it is the end of season for them .

WOW...
I've just caught up with the last two pages of Dixie's Fairy Garden post, and was very moved by the conversations taking place in its magical space...
From little seeds...little did Eggie realise when he gave his mom this present where it would lead to

Hello Dixie!11 Apr '07 1:48 pm
I'm still here. Lurking amongst the house plants and trying to keep the cat from nibbling the mini roses.
My word! but you have done wonders in your fairy garden. Makes me want to visit there just to feel the magic.
Now pay attention please. I have thought about this for a long time. I would like to take part in your magic garden. I want to make you a fairy puppet along the lines of Fiona for you and your grand kids. This will not be a toy for them to play with, mind you. But rather a special way for you to play with them. It would be a treat for you to do for them and I know they would love it. I don't quite know why, I just feel it would be great fun for all involved.
Let me try to explain. You see, I was once a working puppeteer and builder and was for many years. I made literally hundreds of puppets, but they all were needed. I would build puppets for clients too and so those poppets were needed. I've never made a puppet that wasn't needed. They are so labour intensive that to make one without a need seems a complete waist of time. For this reason I haven't had much reason to make puppets for a few years now and I do love it so. I know this might seem strange to you, but it's the nature of the beast. (me)
Ever since you started this fairy garden project I had the urge to do this. I talked this over with Deb and her opinion is "Why not? If it's something you want to do, then go for it." So this shall be my gift to you and your wee loved ones.
Do not fret. The puppets are very easy to work. I will supply notes to help you care for it. A child could not manage the discipline needed to work a marionette, but you can do it easy. My puppets practically work themselves. It's all got to do with balance and how it's strung.
Well? What do you say? This is a gift and I don't expect anything in return, except that you get someone to take some photos when the magic happens the first time and share them here on the forum for myself and everyone else to enjoy. Don't be telling the wee ones about this. I want this to be a total magic surprise when they see their new fairy friend for the first time. I will start on the puppet soon and will build it as I have the spare time. Should take me at least a month. I want to give myself lots of time to enjoy the construction process.
So what do you think of that?
Christopher
