Hi Dixie,
Love the latest shots of your gorgeous fairy garden! Oh, and well done for evicting those squatters from the fairies' houses!! I had a little smile to myself when I read that bit.
Those rocks are gorgeous too - both yours and Christopher's (love those eyes you've painted on, Christopher!). I remember when I was a child, we'd pick beautiful rocks on our holidays - Mum and Dad's rockery is stunning because of it! Unfortunately, nowadays it's rather frowned upon in England, as it seems that a lot of people have been doing it over the decades which means that the beaches and cliffs, etc are getting eroded by more than just the sea! I do remember once finding a gorgeous pink rock with white granite seams through it, but it was in a place where we had to climb up a cliff and then walk quite a way to get back to the car (our favourite kind of place, as it meant there were fewer other people!), so Dad put the rock in his backpack, Mum took all the thermoses, etc in hers and we four children shared all the lunch pots, buckets, spades, etc and we climbed up the cliff, Dad carrying the dog (a westie for those of you who don't remember me mentioning it before!) - it's just one of those memories of our old family holidays and the crazy things we used to do! Your lovely rocks brought it all back to me!

Toadstools16 Sep '07 1:01 am
Dixie, I was so pleased to discover the pictures of your toadstools in their final placement in the Fairy Garden. I remember when you found them and started painting them. It is so nice to see the finished product. Your Fairy Garden is so enchanting. The idea of tiny creatures inhabiting secret villages is so appealing to children (and adults too it seems). I'll bet your grandchildren love the new toadstools.
I also loved your painted rocks. Of course Fairies would have special colored rocks in their gardens. From reading some of the resultant posts, I see that rocks have a universal appeal. I'll bet if you were in a room full of people and took a survey, 95% or more would admit to having collected a rock or two on their travels. Rocks have such an elemental and timeless beauty to them.

the fairy garden today25 Dec '07 3:59 pm
The children have visited for Christmas.
The fairy garden seen today.
My daughter who lives in Australia also came home, and brought this large fairy-Miraculously it survived intact through the aeroplane ride and customs inspection.

What a lovely casting of a fairy. Perfect for your garden.
Like she is pausing to reflect.
She needs a name.
