I guess you know what's coming next?4 Jul '07 3:19 am
The painted mushrooms look great. Now, I wonder how they'll look in the garden? Just wondering. No pressure. We can wait .. patiently .. really!

Dixie, your mushrooms are magical and I can just see the children's faces glowing with excitement the first time they come upon them in the garden. They will need a tea party in the garden you know.

Dixie's Birthday17 Aug '07 2:55 am
I didn't realize your birthday had come and gone obviously. I want to add my good wishes to those of Liza. However, I don't have a beautiful glistening fairy to send you like Liza's. What a beauty!

Happy Birthday Dixie!17 Aug '07 9:38 am
I just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on next year's birthday since I seem to have missed this one. Isn't it great to get one year older? As I always tell my students, it is ever so much better than the alternative. It looks like your birthday must fall between my brother Rodney on the 9th and my stepson Kalle on the 21st. I hope it was a jolly day for you and that you were properly spoiled rotten. Best wishes,

Surprise18 Aug '07 8:43 am
What a lovely surprise, thank you everyone!
It's exactly like me,you know, give or take a wrinkle or two,a pound or two,a grey hair or two,and a decade or two.
The 8th actually,Mark.
Yes I had a special day-Smiley took me to a cafe (www.Corogate.com)which was amazing(please visit the site if you have a moment). This was at Waitakaruru, the place where I was born .Waitakaruru -wai means river, taka means fly over, ruru is an owl,so translated it means the place where the owl flew over the river. We had lovely English traditional style cloths and china.Every wall was taken with displays-even the ceiling was covered with over a hundred jigsaw puzzles. Then we visited the place where the birds leave from on their migrations, which is very close....

What a place. Looks like a destination in its own right. Well done Smiley. The descrition of how they serve tea (from the website you provided) would lure me in for sure.

Spring in the Fairy Garden8 Sep '07 6:28 am
In relation to the former story ~ we heard in last night's news that the first Godwit was returning from Alaska ~ she had a tracking device attached to her before she left in Autumn(March)and the scientists knew that she had left Alaska earlier this week~she was due to arrive at Miranda last night ,averaging 50-60 mph across the Pacific-a long flight. The Miranda shorebirds site should have some details.Keen bird-watchers are gathering from around the world.
