Exciting news24 Jun '07 4:00 pm
Well,I was going to save the news till I had before and after photos ,but I was busting to tell someone,so here they are.I found two fairy seats just the right size for a little child.I really need a third, but will get these painted in the meantime.I was glumly wondering when I was going to be able to manage to make my own mushroom seats as I haven't finished the paths properly yet,and the area around the wishing well needs fixing, but here are some bought ones ready for painting.

Amazing find!24 Jun '07 4:23 pm
I've never seen anything like these before. I wonder what they are made of. Are they cast concrete? They're so good I really can't tell from the photo. They look very life-like as mushrooms. Where in the world did you find them?

Cool Seats, Dixie!24 Jun '07 4:42 pm
Wow, those sure are cool seats! They'd look great in parts of MY garden, even with no small children to sit on them! I echo Mark's comments and questions! What colours will you paint them? I can hardly wait for the "after" pictures!
Cheers!

they will be so cute when you paint them, lucky little children to play in your garden, Dixie. What an enchanting little world you are creating.

Dear Dixie, please post an answer to all the questions soon. I'll bet you are busily painting mushrooms, but we are all dying to know.

painting finished3 Jul '07 12:38 pm
At last I have finished the painting.I bought them from a big chain store. They only had two in the local branch,so I phoned Matamata branch, and they said there were two there,so I drove over-about 25mins.Matamata is where Hobbiton-Lord of the Rings- was filmed and you can go on a tour of the Hobbiton set. There was a busload of tourists leaving when I was there.I was embarrassed at how much they were being charged.Anyway I bought another fairy mushroom so then I had three.I gave them two undercoats. After some deliberation I decided not to be clever with colours or patterns, and paint them exactly as a child would want them to be.They seem to be like concrete but are lighter. My son in law thought that they seemed to be fibreglass. At the same time,I painted about a hundred or more stones that will go into the fairy garden soon.
