Produce from my wee!! veg patch.31 Jan '06 8:22 pm
Hi everyone,
Been warm and sticky here in Auckland NZ. With watching the Weather map tonight I see it has been warm in the South Island to.
I picked the ingredients for my salad tonight, here is a pic. Beans doing great, Picked all my tomatoes, ripening them all over the place. They got blight bad so thought it best to pick em all and toss the plants away.
Cucumbers and Capsicums doing really well, very yummy.
I love silver beet and mine is doing so well I'm handing it over the fence to neighbours, giving it to friends, and Family.
gosh it has been a very busy day here for me, spread the last of the Bark mulch, now I want to get some crushed shell for a couple of Gardens. Never ending, but I love it.
Have to pace myself, as not long ago I lost my Husband and 28 year old son, causing me to have a nasty old Heart attack.
I'm 57, now live on my own.
Renee is living on Campus, and enjoying it.
Well All, I must away, need to check Emails, then want to watch a favourite programe on the TV.
Hope you are all having a great week.
Josie

Good on you ,Josie !
This year I bought a packet of tomato seeds
from the seed stand, which were promoted by ' Burkes back yard' I didn`t forget about them after I sowed them, and got a lot of plants. I planted them in four different sites around the garden -I thought to have a bob each way with the risk of blight. They have done very well, and are a particularly sweet tomato, the same shape as a crown pumpkin. So far ,in Waikato humidity , they are holding on well.

Beautiful veggie garden!5 Feb '06 4:13 am
Wow, your veggie garden is tidy and artistic enough to be confused with any other garden, and is a real credit to you after your trials.
I've only got a very small garden and I'm ashamed to say I've neglected it somewhat (what with working 9-6 every day and some weekends I find my spare time taken up with looking after the house, the cats and my hubby rather than the garden!).
I've got great plans to sort things out once and for all, though, and I was keen to try my hand at growing my own organic vegetables, partly because I'm sure it'll be great fun and very rewarding, but also because they're SO expensive to buy in comparison with inorganic ones and I hate that the shops do that!
Your garden has encouraged me that you can have lots of veggies but still have an attractive, artistic-looking garden, because that was something I was worried about - being an estate agent, I'm always thinking about the re-sell so I didn't want to end up with a boring, utilitarian garden that wouldn't appeal to most people!
Thank you for the inspiration - I'm going to try harder this year. This is NOT a New Year's resolution because I don't believe in them, but a genuine wish to do something that a) I'll love doing, b) will be extremely rewarding, c) will encourage me to eat healthier and d) will hopefully save me some money! Enough reasons, don't you think?
