hydrangea garden 221 Jan '06 6:10 am
End of 2001. There was an interesting curved wall.I started to scrub it, then thought I should take a 'before' photo.
i then painted it with dark-green good quality roof paint. This has meant that it has been so easy to keep looking neat .
On the right of the photo is a raised garden bed jutting out from the house. It had a heap of dirt in front of it full of the dreaded oxalis, so we cleared it all away for lawn.I scrubbed the concrete wall and painted it white in March 2002,when it was dry.
Because of the style of the house, I have kept these gardens fairly neat and formal, but have made my cottage gardens elsewhere.

I didn`t like to write too much at first, as I didn`t want to be too greedy about taking up a lot of space. So I decided to do a bit at a time.
I`ll write about getting the compost for the hydrangea garden next time.
Pumpkin, I noticed you are also from NZ.
Do you remember the dear old gentleman, Allan Scott, who wrote for 'NZ Gardener'
for many years? I live a few houses down from his homestead, and his roses. Aren`t I LUCKY!
Dixie.
