Dear Pumpkin,
If you are still seeking shrubs that like the sea air then do look at the Elaegnus group, my personal favorite is E. fredericki - I swear it glows in the dark! Otherwise try the butterfly bushes (Buddlejas) which do well in stony ground on hillsides along the coast.
