There are very strict Quarantine laws in Australia concerning the importation of any plant material - cuttings, roots, seeds, bulbs, etc. These restrictions are there to stop the spread of plant diseases from one country to another. Therefore, any plant material cannot be exchanged between gardeners across international lines without being seized by Customs Authorities. I'm sure that New Zealand would have similar restrictions. |

International Seed Swaps VS biosecurity & quarantine law14 May '05 2:49 am
Nut,
Alice is right - New Zealand does have very strict biosecurity and quarantine laws that would make an international seed exchange difficult
I've mentioned creating a 'New Zealand Only' Seed Exchange to moosey a few years ago and she promptly changed the subject, muttering something about exchanging several thousand gorse seedlings before pottering back out to the garden
If enough NZ gardeners show an interest I'll happily create an online NZ Seed Swap database but until then if you've got any seeds, bulbs, cuttings etc. to trade post them. |

Thai fresh fruit16 May '05 3:28 pm
Thank you for the information.
My family business is about frozen seafood and I'm try to export Thai fresh fruit as Sweet Mango as called "Nam Dok Mai" the taste is very sweet and eat when ripe as golden yellow the other fruit like pineapple is also available.
For about the share seed here in Thailand they are not strictly about the exchange seed between country if you sent them as just the letter as from my study experienced in New Zealand at Northcross Intermediate School in Auckland and Chissnallwood Intermediate School in Christchurch at the end of the year I have to go back to Thailand I brought fresh strawberry and rasberry at the local supermarket and carry with me on plane since that time I used Qantas from New Zealand-Australia-Thailand there was no broblem which is mean in Thailand they are not strictly about plant.
In the case if someone would like to share seed with me you can sent the seed as the letter to my address at : Nut Jongpatraniphan 60 Soi 23 Kantabut Sukumvit Road Paknam Samutprakan 10270 THAILAND and you can choose between you want me to sent the seed from Thailand back to you or you want some nice Thai souvenir which the weight is light.Who would like to share please reply. |
