12 May '05 10:55 am Hi I'm Kathy I'm from Michigan...
I'm new to gardening and to herbs we moved in December 2004 and the
house we bought and are living in has 4 large beautiful perienal
gardens and I'm finding out that I have lots of herbs too. I have
managed to identified Rosemary and Echinacea.... I have this other
plant that I think is a mint but I'm not sure that it is and I don't
want to mess with it until I'm sure. I've included links to some
pictures...please look at them and see if you can help me identify
this plant.
Thanks so much!
Kathy

How fabulous to have moved into an existing garden!
If you think your photo is mint then just rub the leaves together. Mint is incredibly aromatic and you can't help but smell it
It may be a good idea to try and not disturb the new garden for a whole year, that way you will know if there are any little treasures there which grow and bloom a different times.
Have fun discovering!

Your plant is one of the Dracocephalums, possibly forrestii - or if an annual - moldavica - Dragon's Head. It is related to mints - it has the same squared stem and shape of flower and leaf. Some are annuals, but that looks to be a perennial one.I grow Dracocephalum ugandense which is a low groundcover.
