What is a Pottle?5 Apr '05 9:26 am
At first I thought it was a typing error when I read about them being used for plants. Then I thought it sounded like a cross between a pot and a bottle, but according to 'Google' it's a half-gallon (2litre) plastic milk container (how boring).
But is that what a pottle is, as used in NZ gardens? We use that size bottle with the top and bottom cut off to protect small plants but don't actually plants them in it. |

Regarding pottles - It might just be me. Or it might be the South Islanders in New Zealand, or all New Zealanders.... Anyway, we can buy a 'pottle' of hot chips - it's a round cardboard carton (shaped like an upside-down typical lampshade), a medium-large chip serving size. We get our cat food in plastic pottles, and I use these in my glass-house - the perfect size for growing on cuttings. I trim the edges to make them shallow and use for seed sowing, too!
Perhaps I should put the word pottle in the Moosey Glossary!
Cheers, and happy gardening. |
