Thanks Nut. I will keep that in mind for when it comes time to planting them. The packet I got them in has pretty good 'fool-proof' instructions, but we'll see |

Rebekah, you must be the cloche-frost-cloth - plastic-glass-house-glass-glass-house winter vegetable-growing queen! I am going to try some veges now in my glass-house - probably only lettuces at this stage. I promise to read your posts if I lose confidence! |

What, only 3 more left? You're kidding??
That means my hens will go back on the lay, and I'll have faaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr too many free range eggs! Grr need to find more customers.
I'm not much of a garlic user myself, although it does have its positive uses in the garden.
I'm getting a rotary hoe into my new vegetable garden this coming week. Time to get the hard soil (it isn't a garden yet, but will be once the soil is all dug up) turned for the frosts to work its magic.
I've placed some railway sleepers around the edge, and have changed the shapre of the whole patch into an almost horse shoe shape.
It looks silly with the edge some brick, mostly sleepers, and some concrete slabs. But it all does its job so who cares how odd it looks, right?!
I'll post a picture of it at this stage soon, and I'll post another when its all finished and ready for planting.
I'll need to put up a fence (probably shade cloth) around the garden to keep the hens out, or there would be no point in having a garden if the plants never survive. |

Well, here is the picture of my newest vege garden.
Its now part of the garden I made last winter (there is 1 potato hill at the very back which is in the last winters garden, which comes forward to around the 2 white sticks in the ground).
As you can see its a good size.
My first plot is to the right of this picture. Will take a picture of that tomorrow. Nothing is planted in it due to chickens.
Here are my winter crop in the glasshouse:
Broccoli (near) and cauliflowers (back) |
