I particularly love Buff Beauty. It is a fabulous rose and as you say, always looks good.

26 Nov '04 2:07 pm I'm afraid the garden is rather over-rosed at the moment! And remember that I've only recently found the close-up button on the camera.
I haven't seen Buff Beauty looking so good, though. One of them is clambering up and into a crab apple tree - it seems the perfect height. The other is coloured much more strongly than i remember.
Only problem (or not, if you happen to be a beneficial insect) is that I actually haven't sprayed at all yet - and ont of the silly Dublin Bays is totally misbehaving - it's hardly growing, and the stems and leaves it has managed to grow are lightly speckled with rust. Eek!
Cheers.

27 Nov '04 3:43 pm I don't think a garden can ever be over rosed!
When I first started gardening I bought so many roses I had to write their names down in a diary. I had no hope of remembering them
The old roses in particular had me totally addicted, they are so breath-takingly beautiful. Some of them however, never took too many breaths of their own and curled up their toes quite quickly possibly because they had to fend for themselves.
A couple of rather non home-gardening years later and I now have renewed interest (we bought a 'paddock' ) and have been down in the old rose patch, ripped away the wall of weeds, oh dear, and found blooms that made me reach for the camera
The main problem I used to have was mildew on my roses (which was worse than finding it on the last piece of bread!)
One rose, more than others, used to get it severely and she had such an elegant name 'Souveiner de la Malmaison'. Huge balls of rotting petals are anything but elegant!
