welcome to the forums Jo-Anne I'd like to kickstart this Internet Garden idea :
Location
Moosey? Where is the Internet garden going to be located on the property? I'd hoped that we'd be at the 'discussing irrigation with Stephen the garden engineer' stage by now
Nomination
We're taking Plant nominations for the next few months to build up a good varied list of plants that are available in New Zealand. You can your suggestions via the forum post here : nominations
(link reminder courtesy of mopsie)
When we've got enough suggestions in I'll setup the pages, the graphics and all the silly hype. I've attached a draft picture of the kind of sillyness I'm thinking of to this post.
Ideally the voting lists will have pictures of plants and I'm sorry Moosey but ALL PLANTS MUST BE CORRECTLY & FULLY NAMED! There will be no such thing as 'The spikey punk plant' or 'The Nasty Grass' in this Internet Garden That sort of info can go into the plant profiles / bios.
Altercation
I thought that it would be fun to include some agressive plants in the mix to create a bit of gardening mayhem. clematis montana or the golden hop spring to mind - Moosey might not enjoy all the added work but it would make great viewing
Enough from me I'm off to nominate some plants I'd like to see in the garden.

Solid voting for Clematis Montana may make life difficult for the other garden plants...

There wasn't anything to click on in the "you can make suggestions via the forum post here: " I'm going to click around, I think I've seen that post somewhere.

Dearest Eggy, You definitely are the son of your mother. What's more you must have FAR TOO MUCH time on your hands - Clematis Montana and Golden Hop battles indeed! Next you'll want archways covered with the rose Wedding Day!
Seriously, I do know where the new garden will be going, and will be providing a basic plan very soon. You would be better employed conducting a sensible poll - for example, should the weeping pear tree be allowed to shift in? - rather than inciting plant riots.

Fantastic Idea Moosey. I'm thinking we convert an unused area of lawn into a gladatorial plant riot pit and watch two or three plant contestants battle it out over a season.
Scoring could be achieved in two ways :
coverage : square metres / feet
covering objects : placed in the plant riot pit - maybe an assortment of old radios for the plants to grow over, 5 points a radio covered?
The Plant Riot Pit would have to be situated well away from the water race...
