A sanctuary....just not in summer3 Aug '09 12:40 pm
Creating a garden in Orlando, Florida is wonderful for 3 season's of the year...but right now, not so much....too hot and too Humid (notice that capital "H"?). However, now is the best time for me to plan what's going to happen once the '3H' season is past. That last "h" is for hurricane's and here's hoping we wont get any this year but.... Anyway, I'm spending most days not working, sitting here and enjoying the sights and talk of what all you folks are doing elsewhere....have actually been following this site for going on 6 years and have never gotten up the nerve to post. Well, now's the time, so here I am. I've added a few photos showing what my little slice of heaven feels like when the weather's pleasant. Hope you all enjoy....and, hope I did this right...still a novice when it comes to technology.

Thanks for your reply, Dixie. Since the original post earlier, I tried again and found out my 'pixels' are the wrong size....I even replied with an but then posted it to a different forum!....I did, however, mention that I'm technologically impoverished; I'm hoping eventually to rectify this situation.....it won't be tonight...BBC News at Midnight just came on the radio so now it's time to call it a day and figure all this out tomorrow. Many thanks for the welcome.

Hi Kendel!
You would have heard the sonic boom from the shuttle when it landed the other day wouldn't you?
I lurked for quite a while before joining too, and I still struggle with posting pics online. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Hi Kendel6 Aug '09 6:46 pm
I added my 2cents worth about how to post on your 'mistake' posting. Don't worry - we all started off awkwardly, but Moosey's is about as user-friendly as one gets... you'll soon get into it!

Here goes nothing....and that's exactly what your getting...after 4 hours sitting and stewing with the suggestions you guys made, along with adding Picasa to my system, and getting my brain completely fried in the process of trying to get this all to work, I'm done. I'm not sure how our kids picked up on this stuff so quickly but ye gosh, gollies, this is HARD! I don't feel this worn out working in the garden! My next step is to get my son to take a look at this, wave his magic wand, and make it all appear sooooo easy, I'm gonna' have to slap him . Anyway, it's still too hot and rainy to get out and do anything in the garden so my 4 hours wasn't wasted....I did learn a few things....like how much more I need to learn....MacFlack, we didn't hear the shuttle this time as they may have done a different approach due to weather conditions; when they do fly over our area, you DO hear it and after jumping through the roof, you go turn on the TV to see the landing...no matter how many times the shuttle goes up and comes down, it still gives me goosebumps every time....night launches are really spectacular....seeing it go up behind the trees across the street is awesome...That's it for now; love all the hard work and pictures of all your garden's...Moosey, Minimus' picture when s/he was just a wee kitten sitting in the grass, looking longingly into your camera lens, is even on my wallpaper and has been for months! Those eyes of hers are looking into your soul...not only do you garden well, you take great pictures!

Still trying to figure pixel reduction.....maybe this time.....Whoopee! I got one....I'll now try for more. Nothing quite like the sweet smell of success. "I am woman, hear me roar". To top it off, I did it without asking my son...

Congratulations, you did it!7 Aug '09 6:46 pm
One small step for a .. seriously I remember how exhilerated I felt the first time I got photos to load here. Pretty cool. Lovely fountain. Next time you might experiment with not reducing the photos as much. As you can see they barely open larger than the thumbnails.
Looking forward to your second installment!

Pics! Maybe a bit bigger next time pleeeease? Oh dear, spring is approaching and I'm starting to feel a small glimmer of enthusiasm and I really should share more pics of my garden, but I'm not sure I'll remember how.
(Btw I would LOVE to see a shuttle launch.)
