A Belated Spring Post2 Nov '09 1:18 pm
Well Spring seemed to arrive here all of a sudden and before I knew it, was heading full tilt toward Summer! I managed to take some photos of the property along the way but they are not a true representation of the fantastic Spring flush we have had.
The roses in particular are superb this year but I've yet to get 'round to taking proper pictures of them.

Looking down the drive toward the road. A bit messy but pretty none-the-less.

Very delicate like tissue paper. I'm not sure of the name of these Japanese cherries but we have more than 200 lining the drive.

Winter rose.JPG
I'm really proud of these burgundy coloured Hellebors. I started with a tiny seedling and now there's a big patch of them.

This poor spider has a bit of work to do after a rain storm battered its beautiful web.

Lily of the Valley Shrub.JPG
Pieris japonica or Japanese andromeda. A really lovely small shrub but I never seem to capture its true charm.

P campanulata flowers.JPG
Early flowering Prunus campanulata 'Superba' or Taiwanese cherry. These line the drive near our garage and the intense pink is invigorating at the end of a dreary winter.

Golden elm and aggies.JPG
The first of a long rash of blue mini Agapanthus are out. I love the contrast with the golden elm.

Golden Showers Oct 09.JPG
These young roses went in last winter. They bring a bright flash of lemon to a dark fence line. Thanks Jack for recommending them!
