Things You Don't Expect...
3 Nov '08 9:06 pm ... to find in your garden including sheep and chickens watching TV through the french doors! We don't even own any sheep. I thought I was dreaming.

Wow
6 Nov '08 7:48 am What a surprise! Whilst weeding, etc. this fall, have been watchful of snakes...the rattling kind. Mused to self, just think if I was gardening in Africa, would have all kinds of beasties to watch out for. How does one kindly encourage an ellie to leave your bougainvillea alone? Assiduously protect kitties from a leopard? And then, the piece de resistance, a lion...on that one I would become very still and very admiring, incapable of anything else at all!
Your porch, view and visiting critters are lovely,

9 Nov '08 5:50 am I've told the story here before of how I once visited a friend's garden on the banks of the Letaba River, some 40km before it enters the Kruger Park. She was very apologetic because the previous night it had got rather trampled by hippopotami...
And way back in my army days I was posted to Katima Mulilo on the banks of the Zambezi, near where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia meet (the only place in the world I recall where four countries meet at a specific point.) There I was called out to do an article on a family that had taken to putting out a zinc bath of water for the elephants to drink out of, as their bird bath was a little small. Lazy elephants: the Zambezi was less than 100 meters away...
And that reminds me: I have long wanted to share a photo a friend took in the Kruger Park. Makes you wonder, doesn't it...
11 Dec '08 9:02 am Had not given much thought to how a ploppin pottami could wipe out your garden! Your photo of the leopard is indeed one for pause, and great thought! One should take relief in seeing jacket isn't bloody? Even if I were a coward, I'd still love to go to Africa! Hubband worries I wouldn't come back.
And. Your avatar causes one to give a long sigh of beauty, and wanting to have such a beautiful scene! And even that isn't raving enough about the bridge!!
