Revisit Rekindles Interest8 Aug '04 6:31 pm
Hello fellow gardeners and Moosey's website fans...yay!...this is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year,it always bucks me up if I have had had a less than perfect day. It also has a big plus for me in so much as it has rekindled my interest in my garden which sadly was being rather neglected. I had come to the end(or so I thought) of any garden expansion and thus was faced with only maintainence chores, so boring that they were put off endlessly. Since returning to Moosey's garden after a very long absence I am now looking at my own with new eyes and thinking of making changes to exsisting areas , replacing and renewing tired old plantings, plus trying to incorporate planted pots(hypertufa)within some of the beds. I have found this to be a successful way to save small bulbs and rockery type plants from being accidentally removed or just plain moved. I shudder to think how many have been lost by careless use of a fork or trowel, especially when they have lain dormant or been smothered by the foliage of a more aggressive plant nearby.
I love looking at all of the wonderful photos on this site, has Eggy ever said what type of digital camera he bought? I think they are truly wonderful things and sharing the end result with other gardeners can give pleasure tenfold.
My first post and it has been a long one. (I wish I could say my weeding sessions lasted as long )

last time I was in New Zealand I took this photo from a moving car as we travelled down state highway one to visit my Grandmother and the Waitaki River.

Show Me The Way To Go Home9 Aug '04 6:23 pm
Yup, this is the sign that tells travellers to turn off the main highway and follow the road which winds through farmland to the lovely wee township of Geraldine.
We have a lot of keen gardeners living here, a walk along any street will show you the pride the locals take in their sections. Every year in November Geraldine holds it's Festival of Arts & Plants and one of the attractions is the Open Garden Trail.
It is a very pretty part of New Zealand to live in.

I'm going to come down in November to the Geraldine Garden Trail - I have visions of woodland gardens filled with beautiful November flowering rhododendrons. I imagine a better rainfall than Canterbury, and consequently lots of moisture in the soil and happy plants and trees! Hmm...
Up until this year my November work commitments have been horrible - this year I'll have time and space to enjoy a bit of New Zealand travel. Yippee! Geraldine, here I come - hope to see you there!
