Pumpkin, I love the cardinals too, tho I tend to favor the bluebirds just a little more. I guess because they are my favorite color and also remind me of childhood and that silly Shirley Temple movie I loved back then.
I bought them blooming and they had to bloom on my counter space til it warmed up enough to put them out in the garden. Unfortunately most of them seemed to have given their best show for the year by that time. Still they will be there next year, in the garden blooming at the right time, for me to enjoy. I know better than to be buying plants in full bloom before they even start blooming naturally here, but sometimes it is too hard to resist.

Snow way out2 May '08 8:49 pm
We had snow here two days ago, but our plants were safe in our greenhouse.
Strange to be transplanting when the snow is softly falling.
All gone now and the temp today was 18c with rain.

Autumn is here4 May '08 1:12 pm
Well, may I write that autumn is here in the Spring is here category.
We are heading down to Wellington soon-a 7-8 hours slow drive, and will be travelling down the centre of the north island, there are three volcanoes on the centre plateau-there is a sprinkling of snow already. On the news they said that one of them might blow at any time,so if it blows as we are driving through,we might get to be on national TV [not really all that funny! Smiley does not really like stopping for photos in case the mountain blows and our car stalls.

That's a beautiful photo!
The rumblings of your volcanoes are reported here on the news sometimes. I hope everything is okay.
