I have just seen the fires down your way on TV news,Moosey.the fire risk is extremely high here too,and water very short.
Well ,she's rockin'right along with the photos.I suddenly remembered that I had Picasa installed,so I investigated and spent this afternoon working with photos.I can enjoy cropping and making blurred edges, and also converting to sepia or any other colour or tint-and several etceteras.I also think it is possible to make a DVD with music and pictures-It has been my dream to make a garden/flower DVD with my favourite music,so that is a project for winter.
I the meantime, here is a picture I took of my 2 year old granddaughter yesterday when she was helping to pick beans for dinner.I made it into sepia, and blurred the edges.

Dear Dixie, what adorable pictures of your granddaughter. The first one would be a great illustration for a garden catalogue and the sepia toned one whould make a great greeting card. Maybe you have a whole new "career" ahead now that you have discovered all these fun things.

What a simple and wonderfully composed picture of the earnest business of helping Gran...
A prize-winner, Dixie!!
And what lovely pics you posted earlier, including my beloved Sharifa rose at her most ravishing!
If you let me know your camera's make and model I could help you to find information on exactly how to use the various functions. Because with your talents I can see a real pro developing!

Your pictures are really looking good5 Feb '08 1:42 pm
and your little model is adorable. I had to laugh when I saw the shoes she is wearing, mine are hot pink and of course a few sizes larger. They are my favorite pair, I get alot of teasing from hubby and the kids about them.

Making a video of still pictures with music and narration14 Feb '08 6:17 pm
Wow! Bravo Dixie, your macro shots are absolutely lovely! All are fabulous and my favourites are the pure white hosta flowers and juicy plums (hmm...I'm so jealous! )
Regarding creating a video of your garden pictures and accompanying with your favourite music in the background, why not try the Photo Story 3 for Windows. I just knew of this program from a friend who showed me a video made of still shots of her grandson’s 1st birthday with music last Saturday night, and was I fascinated!! Her daughter who created the video told me that she’ll email the URL where I can download this program for free provided I have genuine Windows XP installed on my pc. But I couldn’t wait and the minute I returned home, I googled and downloaded both Photo Story 3 and Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 from this link –
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx
You’d be surprised to find out how easily your wish can come true with many more amazing results, using this Photo Story 3 to create a video, and then burn a VCD with Nero which I’ve done (or DVD, I’m sure this can be done though I haven’t tried). Anyway, I’ve succeeded to playback my burned VCD on computer, using both the Windows Media Player and Nero Show Time, though I haven’t tried on our new DVD player. For this, I’ll need to ask my tech-savvy son whether our DVD player can accept a Windows Media Video (wmv) format.
If you’re adventurous, you may also want to try Windows Movie Maker which comes bundled with Windows XP (this too I just found out when googling for more info on Photo Story 3) to create the video. Or, you can even create a more outstanding video, using a combination of both these 2 programs. First, create one in Photo Story (using the pan and zoom effects and narration, but without the music) and then import it into Windows Movie Maker to add the titles/text effects and music, etc to finish off. You’ll come across bumps along the way but don’t be afraid to experiment all the features available in both programs to know what they are – frankly, I had an exciting last 5 days learning and doing what I thought impossible without a video cam. Go Dixie - with your artistic and creative talents which you’ve displayed so often in this wonderful forum, you’ll definitely churn out video winners!
