New babies7 Nov '07 7:08 am
My little cat Patches, had her babies, off in the woods somewhere and no matter how we tried we couldn't get her to lead us to them. She came home to eat and wouldn't leave til we were safely inside. It's been weeks, 5 or 6, anyway I was out planting pansies the other day and came in for a break, nice day so hubby had the windows open and we started hearing meowing, went out to check and she had brought her babies home. She put them under the house by the side garden, there are four, two white with blue eyes and kind of tan tails, one tan and white, and one calico that looks just like her. They are terrified of us right now but she seems to be trying to get them over it. When I go out she will come to me and have me pet her, then go call her babies out and coax them over. As long as I don't move quickly or try to reach for them, they will play close by me. The bravest (one of the white ones) actually came up and sniffed my hand and let me stroke her a second before running back to the others. I guess it is time to wean them, I think that is why she brought them home. Here are some pics I managed to get sitting very still on the ground and moving slowly.

New babies!! So lovely!!7 Nov '07 7:36 am
My God, you are so lucky , having these adorable creatures near you, dear friend!! I am SUCH a big Feline-lover myself, I really missed so much having cat-babies close to me!! As Moosey said somewhere, cats are SUCH captivating , wonderful creatures! But, you see, all my cats have started just recently leaving their Earthly life, because of old/very old age...I really, already imagine myself with new kittens around me!! Little Nicholas, too! But I have to admit, that the thought of having a baby-dog and a baby-kitten together, fills my being so strongly sometimes!
We'll see...

They are so playful,7 Nov '07 5:30 pm
I just love kittens at this age, little bundles of energy. I have always liked cats and dogs of course. I don't know if we will keep them all but being in the country we may. Cats are good to have out here, keep the mice and snakes away. Not really sure they do anything about snakes but that is what they say...

One of the highlights of 2007 has been our puppies, and the continued joy the two we kept have brought us! Have fun, Faerisweet and Family!

Beautiful Babies8 Nov '07 1:57 am
Well, she certainly had a beautiful bunch of babies. Glad she finally decided to let you see them. As for cats keeping snakes away, I think they control the rodent population and that in itself discourages snakes who also eat rodents. Either way, you won't have to worry about mice and rats. I think the idea of keeping them all sounds very charming, but be sure to have them spayed and neutered, or you could end up like the little old woman in the shoe with so many children (cats) she didn't know what to do. We adopted a young stray cat once and before we knew what was happening, she had a litter of kittens. Then, before she had weaned those, she got pregnant again. We finally managed to prevent her getting pregnant and had her spayed after the second litter. We had her and one of her kittens until they were both 19 years old.

Oh they are just ADORABLE, Faerisweet!! Aren't kittens just the best tonic? I love the way they run around madly for half an hour and then suddenly collapse wherever they are and go to sleep! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks everyone9 Nov '07 7:04 pm
and yes Faith I have thought we should get them all spayed or neutered. Perhaps especially the poor mommy, I have noticed it has taken alot out of her, tho she eats well, she has become thin since having these babies and she is so small already. Perhaps because she was taken from her mother too young? Someone put her over our fence as a kitten, while she was a nice surprise and I was glad to get her, I feel like maybe the motives were not nice. At the time we had Banjo, a large dog, and whoever dropped her over the fence could not know he would not hurt her. I remember finding her curled up with his furry tail wrapped around her, sleeping. He always let her sleep curled up with him and even shared his food, oh, I do miss him sometimes.

Guardian Angels10 Nov '07 2:40 am
What a sweet story about Banjo and the kitten. Just goes to prove that Guardian Angels come in all sizes, shapes, and species. I know you do miss Banjo, but now you have all these adorable kittens to enjoy. Maybe Banjo is still playing guardian for all of you.
