Let's join Bambi!
26 Oct '07 6:52 pm Take a look at Bambi's 'Garden Tours' description of her route to work. What an excellent idea! I've always wanted to be perched on Moosey's bag carrier as she and Rusty 'take a ride on the bike around the block' (not that I think she'll give me a lift!), or travel down his street with Mark in what I imagine to be a somewhat Bohemian part of San Francisco; Moosey and I have seen, but you haven't, where Liza lives and we've seen snatches of Gordon's and of my surrounding areas. What does Faith's part of Alabama look like? What is Faerisweet's route when she takes the kids to school? How flat is Canada out Christoher's way? Is there another green oasis near Jacqueline's bit of paradise?
Let's build on Bambi's thread, and take a trip through Moosey's Global Village!

Great idea!
27 Oct '07 3:03 am What a fun and great idea Jack. I haven't seen Bambi's post yet, but am looking forward to it. Actually I think we have Faerisweet to thank for this because she recently posted a series of photos of the scenery along her route to her kid's school. I guess I will have to take my camera along on my next trip off the farm during daylight hours.

You can get an even better overview via google's satellite mapping of the world.
Go to google, select "maps", type in the location (such as "kent"..where Bambi is) and click search. Then click satellite at the top right. You can zoom in an out with the ladder thing on the left. By overlaying satellite with map, top right again, you can track down any location known to you.
If you type in your address, street name or post code, you may be able to zoom right in and see your own house; or even, your car or yourself in the garden if you were out there when the satellite passed over. (Not all rural areas are shown in such close detail yet, but urban ones are. Take a look at the walkers in Central Park, NY)
Be warned, it's addictive. You might also like to know that major govts of the world are using a much higher powered resolution. Scary isn't it!
