What's the Time Mr. Zebra?8 Sep '07 9:53 am
It's fun, this waterhole watching, isn't it Dixie? I've never got South Africa's time zone properly organised, though I know that we in New Zealand are first - we always come first, and let's hope that's true for the rubgy world cup, which has nothing to do with the waterhole webcam - unless we see some springboks... hee hee.
For anyone who can't be bothered clicking back to see what this page is all about, here's Jack's link:

I think, if I remember right,it says on the photo what time it is there,so even though I get dizzy with numbers, especially lots of 000000000000s.I have just had a look and it is definitely night time.

You'll be pleased to hear, Moosey, that Sprinboks are one of the few antelope you WON'T find in the Kruger!
I'll hopefully soon post some pics on my weekend visit to Kruger...
And Christopher - lovely to hear from you and Debs again! I will asap follow up on your link too! Thanks all for the responses.

I check a couple of times a day but apart from birds I haven't seen any animals yet-it is dark in SA at the present time, but I note Moosey saw animals after 5 pm NZ time, but that is when I am usually cooking dinner,so will have to shuffle my organisation of things domestic.(thinking aloud)

Dixie: NZ is 10 hrs ahead of SA, and usually the middle of the day in summer animals stick to the bit of shade they can find away from the water. SA time would be 6-11am and 4-6pm. So your best chances are between 4pm and 9pm to catch the morning drinkers and - for insomniacs - 2 and 4am for the evening!

Hi all,
Just discovered this thread and I've had a quick look at the web cams - yours, Jack, seems to work well at the moment, although it's only 2.45pm here right now, so I'm probably too early for the 'nimals - I'll try and sneak a quick look back later in the hopes of seeing someone coming down for a drink (we're only an hour behind you so it should be quite easy).
With Christopher's web cams, I got to the screen, pressed play but I got the black screen mentioned before - on both the lion one and the grizzlies! Hmm, will have to try again later on that one too!!

Bambi, The way it should work is like this. Click on the link in my first post and the window should open and start playing as soon as it buffers (and this can take a minute or two depending on your connection and how much volume there is on the server) There should be no need to press play as it is a live feed to a web cam. I'm sorry to point you to such a heavily advertisement riddled page. try to keep your cursor to the edges because I found you only need to mouse-over some of the adds to activate them. If the page plays an add the first time you open it, close it right away and open it again and you shouldn't have an add and go straight to the web cam. Once you see something on the web cam, put your cursor on the web cam image and right click, from the menu that opens pick zoom, then pick full screen.

I had a bit of trouble, too,Christopher but will try again.
In the meantime let me tell you about a webcam in New Zealand, only it isn't wild animals.
The centre plateau area of the North island is volcanic, and scientists have webcams to moniter the activity-we can have access too.One of the most active and dangerous areas is at White island just off the East coast, and it sends out smoke all the time,so it indicates if something serious is happening - there are underground rumblings all around that area which is why I live a distance away, but the locals are used to it.
Go to www.geonet.org.nz /volcanoes/white island
Click on the photo below to enlarge it and check the bottom left.
