All babies are beautiful Liza! Especially those with physical handicaps ... and kittens, puppies, lambs, calves...Bambi's snakelets, hee hee
Ugly can only come from within... and usually takes a long time to develop
Love the pajama set! I still think they should make those 'feet in' PJ's for 'big' people too |

Well, everyone, I hope you noticed the smileys that I used in that posting; I don't REALLY think babies are ugly - just had to give Faith (I hope that's who posted about her daughter not giving her grandchildren) a rough time and a bit of a teasing about that comment! But what a discussion it started! I'm beginning to think that maybe I might be one of those people who "stir the pot" and then stand back to watch what happens!
Cheers, all!

We know you were kidding
Interesting though, maybe if ones native tongue is different then humor does sometimes get lost in translation? |

Yes, I think it's true that humour can get lost in translation, and I keep forgetting that there are so many English-as-a-second-language folks on this site! Everyone writes SO well in English!!
All the best!

International Humour...4 Oct '07 6:04 pm
Gordon, in a certain way , I was sure you were joking....A person like you, who loves and respects Natural Life like YOU do, it would be impossible not to equally love and respect one basic element of the Human Kingdom :The pure INNOCENCE, which is reflected mainly on the youngest members of it : the human babies and young children..
Concerning Translation and Humour, it has to do with our personality and character. And I am sure, that during more than two years that I contribute in this Forum, I have myself many times been misunderstood, but -- unfortunately -- none replied openly for direct explanation... Because I know, that I have a very personal way of thinking , that has to do both with my personality and culture.
But , my gentle Gordon, this is the beauty of Forums like this one : the beauty of bringing people from all over the world together, and make them discover, that fundamentally we are ALL ONE : because we are ALL, deep-down, asking for the very same basic elements, in order to carry on a normal and joyful human life : Love and Happiness within and without, Harmony , Peace, and Health ( money and other "precious" things, normally follow then -- not like the rain from the sky, of course..)
And the person with the best Moosey Forum Humor, I believe that is Pumkin!!Yes!! She was the first person to welcome me with her sweet, kind, and humourous "Howdy", after my very first post here! And much later I realized, this is rather a N. Zealand /Australian friendly expression for "how are you" /"how do you do" ! And the funniest thing is , I took her "compost executive" very seriously those days, like a lot of other members must have taken seriously my "gardening consultant", which is given to me... from me, humorously, and very sarcastically at the time given...Lost in our...international humour/translation! Lovely, non??!! |

I had to go back a couple of pages and re-read the posts to catch up with this one. Poor, Gordon, you meant well in trying to tease me about my not so nice post about my daughter's lack of urgency in the grandchildren production area. I am really okay with her timetable, whatever it may be. As far as cultural differences in humor, I don't find that to be a problem very often. We all get accostomed to each member's personal "style" and I think we do a pretty good job of interpreting meanings. |
