Thank you everyone.
Mark, the pink shrub is a coprosma -it is a lovely foliage shrub to have and you can get them in several colours now-I have three in this garden-and a couple of bronze ones elsewhere.I also have Nandina,Pieris,Lonicera nitida which goes a lovely gold in summer, and several Hebes and Smiley's fave at the back because it will grow tall-an Australian bottle brush-it has crimson flowers.Yesterday I planted a dwarf phormium near the front. It is plain green, named'Garden Hero'-it does not grow larger than 45cm.
also at the front I put in miniature roses (green ice)and red gazanias. When it all fills out I will take another picture.

Dixie,
I'd like to add my agreement that moving the bird bath is very wise, and it looks great in its new spot too. I'm sure the birds will appreciate it when they're used to it too, as it's in a nice open space but with shelter nearby to escape any potential danger.
I'd love to see the filled-out photos when you have them (even though it all looks great as it is anyway).

Thanks for the info Dixie. I haven't tried many Coprosmias, just the one that's called "Mirror Plant". I like the color of the ones you have there. I also like your use of multiples of each plant - more impressive I think. You can't go wrong with Yellow Wave. I hope we'll get to see a couple of in between pictures as well, as this area fills out. It is already impressive. Someone I know who put in a new border took one photo a week from the same spot for a few months and it was interesting to see it grow. I probably don't have the time or discipline to do that myself but it's always fun when someone else does.

What a Garden!28 Sep '07 7:32 pm
Hi, Dixie-
I, like Mark, missed these posts of yours, and I just found them! How lovely your garden looks, even in dormancy! I, too, really like the new setting for the bird bath! Also, I really like that begonia! There is supposed to be a begonia that is hardy here, and I'm wondering if it might be the same one. How cold does it get there in winter?
I also really like your blue pots - they should look smashing in summer when they have filled out! I see that you have the same variety of hellebore that I have, and mine should be in full bloom exactly 6 months from now!!
Enjoy the excitement of early spring!!
Cheers!

Today is a big day for my family, when everyone is coming to celebrate a first birthday.
Two of the little ones are awake early and come outside to feed the birds with me, still in their pyjamas.

I remember wearing jammies which had feet in them. This takes me back. We're not grandparents yet but it looks like a good gig.
Enjoy,

What fun times and wonderful memories to keep! I know you loved having your family together for this birthday party. I don't have any grandchildren (and am not too sure I ever will at the pace my daughter is setting), but love to enjoy sharing little glimpses of those of others. Thanks for sharing your.
