Moosey, you crack me up!
25 Jul '07 10:29 am Well, better late than never. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate our Mary's witty, wry and sometimes self-depreciating sense of humor. I was looking forward to hearing about her visit to our Lisa's garden in Belgium. I've always admired Lisa's stunningly colorful and beautiful garden in which every plant looks like it must have its own trainer and nutrition consultant. Wonderful to see but way beyond my work ethic. What would Mary say? I wasn't disappointed:
"This is an extremely well-fed, well nurtured garden - a five star hotel for beautiful flowers and plants, where each is treated like an honoured, pampered guest. It makes my own establishment seem rather like a community doss-house, where plants take their chance in an old bunkroom, and the proprietor has wandered off leaving a 'Back in 10 minutes' sign in the lobby."
It still cracks me up to read this excerpt from Mary's account. I might say the same about the plants in my own garden who must sink or swim, thrive or become compost but I just really enjoyed the way you put it Mary. You help make it okay not to be a perfectionist or too extreme even while being completely serious about gardening. Your frequent references to exercise and music show a healthy diversification of interests. I suspect Eggy would approve of your life-style portfolio.
Now the next time you come to San Francisco, please let me know so I can chauffer you around and help you fend off the panhandlers. You would also be welcome to a night at our warehouse which comes with hot tub priveledges and a cuppa in the garden each morning.

6 Sep '07 6:10 pm Mark, sorry I'm so late in replying to this post. Faith told me about you being in? on? near? San Fransisco, about five days before I was to arrive there. It was just too late to organise anything, and I chickened out of touring around and finding the gardens you'd spoke about. In fact the helpdesk tour person at the airport didn't really know what I was trying to talk about! But next time I won't be such a doofus, if you're OK with that rather odd word, and you'll know about it well in advance!
Thanks lots for your support. You rock!

Hi Moosey
9 Sep '07 3:48 am Next time we'll point you to some good gardening stuff in the San Francisco area. I'm in Berkeley, which is directly across the bay, a few miles to the East. There is really a lot to see, but a vacation can become exhausting if you try to do too much.
I completely understand getting tuckered out on such a long trip. I like traveling but don't like to be away too long. Your's sounded like a real marathon affair. I really miss being in the garden after a couple weeks.
