How satisfying for you!8 May '08 1:15 am
It is a good feeling indeed to successfully forage an entire new bed. Or so I would imagine. Of course, forays to the nursery have their own charm, but that was why you had some of the plants you needed ready to hand.
On Christopher's (Garden Gnome) thread, he's been talking about drawing on the right side of the brain. It sounds to me like that's the sort of experience you had making this bed. Åll very intuitive and making it up as you go. Even the impulse buys you made in the past which helped fill the new bed are indicative of a trust in your process which is essential to this kind of garden making.
Nice flowing, I mean, nice going. |

A day in the life of a true gardener...8 May '08 1:53 am
Oh Faerisweet, you gave me such a good laugh with your vinca story. I can just picture it all! You really have proved yourself a true gardener!
It reminds me a little of a day I was so irritated with my school-work that I went out and aggressively designed a vista where I had never thought of one before. It took a few weeks to actually lay out, but it is now one of my favourite developments in the garden. Perhaps it's time to do something similar again! |

Thank you Mark and Jack,8 May '08 4:35 pm
It was fun being able to put it together that way. Just kind of flowed, like you said Mark. It did get me thinking tho, I should really start propagating the things I really like and that do well, instead of just purchasing more of the same plants. That way I could use the money I saved to add more variety to the garden.
I better get to sleep at a decent hour tonight, tomorrow I have to make beans for my sons spanish class, and I need to get started removing a strip of grass all along our front walkway. They had a sale on petunias and I have 60 little burgundy ones waiting for a home. |
