Hi again.
3 Jun '07 3:33 am I thought of you when I was reading the latest edition of Horticulture Magazine. I know Texas is a big place and there is a good chance you're no where near there, but there is an article about a painter and gardener in Odessa Texas who has been making a garden there for almost ten years. It's beautiful and apparently the conditions there are extremely difficult. You might like to see it.

So far I haven't seen a garden on here that wasn't special. Some (many, in fact) are purely amazing. While I would love to have something as grand as the one of a member named Jack from S. Africa, that is just not possible. I will just have to do my best with the space I have. I would like a relaxing shade garden for the backyard, a place for me and hubby to relax in the evening. In the sunny areas, I would like lots of cheerful color and plenty of flowers suitable for cutting and bringing indoors.
Mark,
I am quite a ways from Odessa, It is more of a desert area I am thinking. I passed thru there in my teens (ages ago) when my family moved from California to Texas. Our area is made for gardening, very green, I live in an area full of cattle and horse ranches. The only real buisness (besides a little convenience store) in our tiny town is a seed co. called Wilhite Seeds, mainly vegetable seeds. They have their watermelon farm right down the road here. Gardening here is no where near as challenging as it would be in Odessa. I am going to check out that article, if Odessa is anything like I remember from my brief experience of it, a good garden would be hard to create.
