Well, Kerole, The pictures of the floors are much clearer in colour so perhaps I'll try again tonight to see if the gremlin has left my computer!
Honestly, if anyone out there has any idea what might be causing this change from colour to black and white, please let me know!!

Another Try at Colour30 Oct '09 3:48 pm
Hi, everyone;
Last night I was trying to figure out why my pics have been uploading in black and white when they show on MY monitor in colour. After trying everything I could think of, I decided that perhaps a cosmic ray had hit the computer and changed a setting somewhere and that the best thing to do would be to reload the imaging program that I use. WRONG!!
The newly-loaded program wiped out nearly all my pictures from where they were!!Argh!!
After much searching, however, I discovered them safely in my Adobe files, but I can't get them onto Moosey's from there, as they're all too large. I tried putting them back into the original program, which worked, sort of, but when I told it to change the size a window popped up saying that I would have to go to another site and buy the rights to do that and to save them! The old program did that task with no problem!!
So that's where I am at this time. Sorry - no more pics from me for a while until I get all of this straightened out.
And to top it all off, today the remote control for my television went berserk so I can't change the channels (and there are no buttons on the *#?/ t.v. to do it with). Thank goodness I have a couple of good detective novels to read, eh? Tomorrow, that remote is going back for an exchange.
I sure hope your days have been going better than mine!
cheers, all,
gordonf

... but it takes a computer to really f&*$ things up! An old adage which you've just managed to prove again. I must admit I had a quite chuckle at your frustration and annoyance... now if ALL the pics were suddenly b&w it would make SOME sense... my guess is the problem lies in the processing program you use, but why they don't show as b&w there I don't know. Try comparing the info you get for those in colour to those in b&w - that is if you still can! Good luck!
I meanwhile have realised that it is four weeks since I last kept up with you. Somehow Moosey's has again stoppped reminding me there is movement on your thread.
I really loved your last stories and pics... Gordon the intrepid, taking on foolish neighbours and recalcitrant computers... Our very own Don Quixote!
But your garden and the Chinese garden are both lovely - and I wonder how much extra those apartments ovelooking the park cost because of it... now that is where they should raise funds to maintain the gardens!

Oohh!!!1 Nov '09 5:50 pm
Hi, Jack, and thanks for the sympathy!
I still haven't got to the bottom of my problem with the pictures; perhaps I'll look around for another downloadable imaging programme to try. Did I tell you that I found all of my pictures, in living colour, on another programme? I just can't seem to move them back to where they SHOULD be. Well, where there's life, there's hope, and since neither the computer or I have "died", I have confidence that a solution will show up eventually.
By the way, a friend who is moving and who shared in my giant seed purchase a couple of months ago, brought me a bunch of blue poppy seedlings today. He is unexpectedly moving to an apartment and won't have room this winter to continue growing them. Now I'm wondering exactly what to do with them, as they are just beginning to get second leaves and I think it's too cold at night to leave them outside until they are a bit larger. Then I might put a few of them into the coldframe for the winter and try to keep the rest indoors under lights.
Here are a few of my Sun Yat-Sen Garden pictures that are showing in colour on the computer. Let's hope they appear that way on Moosey's!
Cheers!

p.s.- Both of these pics appeared in colour on my computer; what can be happening???

A Further Experiment2 Nov '09 8:26 pm
Well, here I am again. Tonight I broke down and paid my US$30. to get a licence to enable me to save my resized pictures so I can upload them. Let's hope it works - instead of a thumbnail image in MY file, it just shows an icon which is the same for each image. This makes it really hard to select the ones I want to upload, but it's better than not having them at all, eh? Maybe there's a preference item I need to turn on to get the image; I'll have to search around and look for it.
Anyway, here goes: this picture is of one of the many special little corners in the Scholar's Garden that I've been attempting to show you for the last few days. I'm crossing my fingers !
Cheers, all!

Well, that didn't work; Moosey's won't accept JP2 images, and that's the only kind this new licence gives me!

Other Picture Formats5 Nov '09 4:08 pm
Here I am again, folks! Well, I've been playing around with my imaging programme, and to do it without possibly losing an important picture, I took this one of a new flower pot I bought the other day to replace the hollowed-out log that I had been using by the front gate. It was split into 2 pieces when the car ran into my front a couple of weeks ago. I bought this Golden Irish Yew (Taxus bacc. Fastigata Aurea, 2 white heathers (Erica x darleyensis), and 10 "Jack Snipe" Narcissus bulbs to plant in it for a winter arrangement. In spring, I plan to remove the heathers and replace them with white petunias or white wax begonias for summer.
Anyway, I converted the picture in size to 800 x 600 as I always do, then saved it as a Jpeg and as a Tiff. Let's see if it changes to black and white again, of if Moosey's server refuses it this time!
Cheers!
gordonf
p.s.- The Tiff. image, at 600 x 800, was too big, so I'll try to reduce it a bit.
p.p.s.- Still too big. Hmmm...
p.p.p.s - I reduced it by half again and here's the image. When I clicked on it, it appeared as a Quicktime image. Did any of you find that?

Yet Another Try6 Nov '09 7:02 pm
Well, I've been busy playing around with my photo editor and I FINALLY discovered a place where it was checked to save images as black and white!!! So I played with the "panorama" feature and finally got this combined image of 2 panels of an oil painting of an African street scene. Let's see what happens this time! I chose this one because of the colourful plant background.
Cheers!
