Hi, everyone!
It has been lovely weather here of late, with warm, sunny days and cooler, clear nights. I note that in other parts of the country, the warnings for low ground frost at night have begun reappearing on the weather forecasts, but that doesn't affect us here on Vancouver Island. I'll bet that where I'm planning on moving to they apply, though!
Anyway, here are some pictures that I took of my garden early this evening; you'll note that finally, after at least 2 years, I finally finished the storage shed beneath my roof garden!!
All the best, everyone!

Hi Stranger!12 Sep '08 7:36 pm
You've been even scarcer around here than I've been - except that you have a spick and span garden to show for it... well, perhaps I'll get there next year!
I envy the person who buys your place - they will be getting a real gem, and I hope they realise it and nurture it!

It's looking really nice,Gordon.Everything is so attractive and neat.I love the Westerland rose.I have a Westerland that is not happy where she is-I like how you have her against the trellis on the wall,so I might do something similar here.

So Tidy!!13 Sep '08 7:21 am
Good Lord Gordon, your garden is so very tidy! I'm wildly jealous - being weed-free here is an unattainable dream (unless I hired a gazillion gardeners). I have to settle with getting rid of the most obvious ones and hoping no one notices the others I love the shed with the roof garden - clever and inventive. All the best for a quick sale Gordon

"Weed-free" Garden13 Sep '08 3:07 pm
Hi, Kerole -
The only reason the front garden is weed-free at the moment is that a friend helped me dig up all that gravel and remove the weeds a few days ago; after a bit of rain, we'll see how weed-free it really is! I must admit, though, that since I see the roof garden every time I arrive back home, and because it is at chest-high level, it's very easy weeding it out before the weeds become monsters!
Now, if I were to show you parts of the main garden (under the leaves and branches), you'd see the many weeds back there. They luckily don't stand out unless you look for them, though!
I spent a lot of time watering today, as, while it has been lovely and warm (not too hot, though), the constant wind has dried most things out drastically. Especially the potted plants, and I have many of those, are suffering a bit, although this dry period seems to have prodded one of my succulents into blooming for the first time. I discovered the flowers on it while watering the roof garden this evening and subsequently moved the pot into a better place for viewing. I'll take a picture of the blooms tomorrow and post them.
Cheers!

Sept. Pictures14 Sep '08 2:11 pm
Hello again, everyone;
Here are the pictures I took in the garden today. You'll remember last time that I said I'd get a picture up of the succulent that I discovered blooming in the roof garden the other day. Well, it's here today.
Also, there's a collage of sorts of various colours of portulacas in my window box. Then I had to take one of the thalictrums to show how their burgundy stems show up at this time of the year when their leaves turn yellow. Lastly, there's one of a spider who took up residence overnight among the plants on the deck.
Enjoy the spring, fall, rainy or dry season wherever you are!
Cheers,
gordonf

Your garden just keeps on producing! I love the mini cyclamen - how big is the flower? Is it mauve (it looks mauve in the pic)?

Cyclamen16 Sep '08 2:21 pm
Hi, Kerole -
The little cyclamen flower is about 1 to 1.5cm in diameter. I think it's pink, but I must admit that in the picture it appears to be mauve. I think that's because it's hidden beneath all of the larger plants. The little white ones are the same size, but I think the slugs must think they like them; nearly every one has a little chunk taken from it. I guess they're not good enough to constitute an entire meal!!
As for keeping on producing, my Michaelmas daisies have just begun opening their buds, so soon there should be a wonderful display of them!
Cheers!
