Wild flowers of North America19 Mar '07 4:39 am
Hello, I'm sorry it has been a long time since I posted. The reason was that my internet was too slow to upload picutures. I finally have faster internet, but now it is late winter here and, except for some cyclamens and rock garden irises, my garden is pretty barren.
I decided to share some wild flowers I saw at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, USA. Crater Lake is a lake inside a volcano crater, like Lake Taupo in New Zealand. We came to see the Lake but the wild flowers were a very pleasant surprise. Enjoy!

Hi Nancy, good to see you back again. Thanks for the lovely wildflower photos. I think Oregon is one of my favorite states even though I have only been there once. If I ever decided to move somewhere other than where I live now, I think Oregon would be a strong contender. Of course, I haven't been to Utah, so you never know.

Penstemons19 Mar '07 7:13 pm
Hi, Nancy;
Those were lovely pictures of wildflowers; here are a couple that I took in the southern interior of B.C. a couple of years ago. I'm posting them so we can compare the different kinds of penstemons that you and I saw. What were those yellow flowers that you had posted; are they another kind of penstemon, or are they some kind of gentian?
Cheers!

It seems amazing to see penstemons in the wild, but then logically they must have originated somewhere.
They're beautiful.

I love pentstemons too ,and it is fascinating to see them in their natural state- especially the mountain one ! Thank you for the photos I wonder if the news of the central North Island volcano spilling over(lahar) made overseas news .Everyone was waiting for it to go ,but it was spectacular when it happened -I can't believe that some brave/stupid folk want to climb up the very unstable side of the mountain to have a look.

Well, in another post, I mentioned Dixie as living in the States! I guess THAT was wrong, eh?
Anyway, Dixie - I, for one, hadn't heard about the volcanic eruption that you mentioned. I'm glad you brought me up to date about it, and I had never before heard the technical term (lahar, was it?) before. That was a great picture of it! I hope it didn't endanger any homes!
Please keep us posted!
