South west garden
4 Aug '09 7:51 am Here is a part of my garden that i have not shown much of before.
I was thinking about the compost bins after Gordon had been writing about his compost.
The southwest part of the house section was overgrown and neglected-it is a hard part to manage as it is in the cold shade of the house and also a huge chestnut tree dropped its prickly little babies over the lawn.it was such an enormous relief to get the chestnut cut down as it had grown too big for a house section and was pushing the big fence over and completely shaded the area i wanted to grow vegetables and fruit.
just after we had come here-i had started clearing the messy south-west area,so thought i had better take a pic before i did any more.the rail fence was under it all and suprise to find compost bins
towards back of house-south side from citrus trees.tangeloes and oranges.

Boy this place is buzzing!
4 Aug '09 8:26 am I just got through posting photos from my trip to another botanical garden. Then I checked for new posts and discovered this fresh one of yours. Interesting to get the early pictures. Very clever of you to think of getting that before photo. So that cinderblock compost pile was found under all that growth when you first came to garden there?
The Rosella in the tree reminds me you are someplace far away. What a colorful visitor. Are they native both to NZ and Austrailia? Nice assortment of citrus you have there. Did you plant them?
That is some very nice sunshine showing in the current photos. So much for drizzle and gloom! Spring is so exciting and you're getting closer to yours. I suspect early Spring marks a noticable awaening in your garden. I guess that would be later this month or September where you are (corresponding to March and even late February here). By then my scilla bulbs are up with several other bright spots.
