Wow! Lovely Sedum!14 Nov '07 5:27 pm
Wow, Dixie- What a wonderful, large sedum you have!! Maybe mine will get like that one day! Great pictures, and it looks as if you did a good job of saving that beautiful standard rose!!
By the way, where IS Waikato in relation to Wellington or Aukland?
Cheers!

Hi,Gordon,
Where is Waikato in relation to Welly and Orkland?~ just along the road.
Dixie.
(To visit my son in Auckland is an hour and three-quarters' drive north.
My youngest daughter in Wellington takes six hours drive south)
LakeTaupo in the centre of the North island is exactly two hours drive south from here.

Wow Dixie! What a stunner that gorgeous standard rose bush is, befitting its name 'Sparkler' and I marvel at its lovely shape and blooming abundance. How old is it? Your pots too are so lovely, are they hand-painted by you knowing that you are talented in this area? Thanks for sharing all those wonderful mid-winter and early summer pictures! Lovely!

Scene today14 Nov '07 7:48 pm
This is the general scene of the back garden, from the vegetable garden area. The tall tree with three trunks is the giant cedar with the fairy garden under it.You can have some idea of the enormous size of it.
you can see white'Sparkler'at the centre. The pink roses blooming so abundantly are 'sharif Asma' in front and one of two'Mary rose' each side of the blue bridge. On the right is the half-round garden where there is mainly foliage plants.
The huge conifer shading the whole area was removed two weeks ago and sunshine and light come through now.I will be tidying and planting the space left by its removal. The pepper tree in the background is just coming into leaf.
Dixie.

Bird Feeder21 Nov '07 8:50 am
Look what Smiley and I have just put in the back garden.
I bought a bird feeder from the local market-it was made from wood.We added a couple of landing rails made from dowelling.I painted it,and just HAD to put a little flower or two on it.Smiley put it in part of the back garden for me half an hour ago.

What a Beaut!!21 Nov '07 6:13 pm
Hi, Dixie-
What a great bird feeder! You could serve a whole flock on that one!! And where you placed it accents the end of the flower bed really well! What's the plant with the golden leaves near it?? And what kind of birds do you get at the feeder? I'd get sparrows, starlings and various little birds that I can't recognize. Oh, yes, and
Stellar's jays! Do your birds migrate or are they year-round visitors there?
Cheers!
