Liza, that's so sweet.
I wish I had a good excuse, but mainly it's just been what with the end of the school holidays things have been busy-ish. Now that my children are back to school I hope to spend more time online.
As to bullying, I too was picked on for not being a sporty popular type, and I know it's different for everyone but it wasn't until I stood up for myself that the bullying stopped.
I realise that won't always work but I was lucky in that it did.

Your snow earlier this month looked great ..28 Feb '07 1:30 pm
.. and you seem not only not alarmed but entranced. Your photos seem to catch your beautiful flowers at the very moment of having received their pile of snow. They seem undamaged but perhaps a little surprised. Is snow unusual for you? I've never had it here in Berkeley. If I ever do I hope I am able to embrace the moment as well as you seem to.
I've been experimenting with sizes of images that fit here and I think I have found the largest size at Photo Bucket that works.
Here are some epiphyllums for you since you liked that one image I'd cropped. All of these have blooms perhaps 8 inches across, which is about 20 cm I think. (These guys would really not like the snow.)
Your fan in California, Mark

Anna, dear, I just discovered your post here (thanks to Mark!)! I am so sorry I have not replied earlier! I completely understand you, since I passed this stage myself, when my two older children were still going to school. Bullying is a major problem in all schools around the world! Concerning myself, little Liza is far behind me now, poor little girl...Liza of the present is fascinated by the snow, in small ..."artistic" quantities that is...And , as you saw, I now dare stay out in the snow quite long , doing something I really enjoy like gardening : taking Nature pictures !! And when I do that, I feel I am ...a happy, humble plant myself!
Dear Mark! Thank you for all these lovely photos! Yes! For many years now, I have been in love with this adorable, easy plant,! I am so mesmerized by the details of the form and colours of its magnificent blooms! It is literally a very special artistic Divine creation! By the way, all the varieties of this plant are called " Forest Types Cacti", and are either Zygocacti or Epiphyllums. In their natural habitat they live attached on big forest trees in the jungle!
Mark , in this very site it has been a long discussion on this exceptional plant in the past, which has ...three botanical names, one Latin and two Greek ones! The one of the Greek names is Epiphyllum, meaning having a leaf upon a leaf , which is exactly the stracture of its foliage! The second Greek name is Zygocactus, meaning a cactus with twin leaves, or a double leaved cactus , which is again what it is! Its Latin name is Schlumbergera, and I have no idea what it means. This adorable plant of yours is an Epiphyllum "Ackemanii" variety, having all of these cultivars of the superb different colours!
You can read all about the Moosey site discussion on this plant, if you go here : to the Forum section "Unidentified Flowering Objects", page 2, post : " Help Needed to ID This Plant!", by Jacqueline.
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments! Yes, the whiteness of the snow, can brighten one's heart...I wish you experiencing snow yourself!

Thanks for the insight, Liza.2 Mar '07 2:35 am
When I was at Cal I took a course in human physiology and the study group I was assigned to was led by a T.A. from Greece. She was always throwing in little asides about the roots of the words and other words in which they appeared. This made the course so much more interesting to me. I likewise very much appreciate what I am able to learn from you. You are very generous.
