Well, Faith , you said it all! Even about the cute doggies! I only want to add, that Tee-Cee, now that you have started, you will never stop, until you see what you visualized on your garden becoming reality! This gardening creativity force is absolutely amazing!

A catch-up9 Apr '07 1:11 pm
I haven't posted in quite awhile - it has been such a busy time for me, unfortunately not so much in the garden as painting my house and extra hours in my job. It is a little too cold to be painting today, but I have sanded and washed walls ready for when it warms up, so I have a little time on the internet.
Gordon - I said I would post pictures of my lobelia plants in case you would like seeds.I have also added a white flowered hebe that you may like seeds of, sorry I meant to take a photo of it in flower. The lobelias are still in pots, so they aren't as bushy as they would be in the garden. Also the purple colour hasn't come true - it is what I think of as a 'royal' purple, not as blue as the photo suggests.
Tell Moosey that you can have my e-mail address if you are interested in seeds.

My vegetable garden9 Apr '07 1:23 pm
I am almost pleased that the colder weather is coming because it means the surplus of beans and zucchini is also going to finish! I have given huge quantities away and have eaten so many that I don't really want to see another bean or zucchini again in quite awhile! Now it is the turn of the leeks, carrots, parsnips and onions, but it is also the time for warming soups, so that is good. I have had problems with white butterflies on my broccoli and brussel sprouts and after fighting them for awhile, I have given up and left them to the total destruction of all green leaves on the plants. Now, the idea of a large cage just for members of the brassica family appeals and I am planning something along those lines - whether I ever make it, remains to be seen....This is part of my vegetable garden in March. Since then the beans have come to an end (thank goodness!).

You might want to think of using row cover material. I tried this last fall with my cold crops and it worked very well. The material disentegrated after a couple of months, but protected the crops from the butterflies and their hatching caterpillars while the plants were small and vulnerable. By the time the material began to fall apart, the plants were large and were not bothered.

The colour combination of your white flowered hebe and the purple foliage plant is very clever .I bought a stalky -looking hebe a year or so ago ,with the label 'white flowered '.I pruned it back carefully and have been rewarded with masses of gorgeous icing sugar clusters .Your vege garden is marvellous ! I like how you have it in rectangular frames .
