Timed-Out Messages31 Jan '07 5:03 pm
Hi, y'all - Am I the only person getting messages that Moosey's Country Garden is taking too long to respond and has timed out? This has been happening to me in the last couple of days. I'm wondering whether the problem is at my end or the other one. Perhaps the server is becoming too busy (that's actually GOOD news!)? Or could it be that the messages are trying to get past the damaged cables off China rather than going the other way around the world?
Just wondering!

This has been happening recently to me ,too, Dear Gordon! But since I have no idea of informatic rules, I start hating and blaming my computer, and start arguing with my husband , who does not come right away, "when I suffer" with "my crazy computer", ....to save me... |

Whilst posting?31 Jan '07 8:08 pm
This happens to me quite often whilst posting, because I am usually multi-tasking then. The back-button then usually sorts the problem! |

No problem here. I'm using a broadband connection in the UK. Even though our line is not particularly fast and this site carries a lot of pictures,I find Moosey's always loads, really fast, and doesn't time-out.
Are you on a dial-up service? |

Time out problems1 Feb '07 2:41 am
No problems for me lately. I am on dsl and the pages usually load very quickly. I have noticed that it sometimes takes longer to load in the afternoons, when I had assumed, maybe more people were accessing the site or it was under construction by Eggy. Don't know if either of those assumptions make any sense to computer savvy folks. |

More About "Timed Out"1 Feb '07 1:03 pm
Hi, everyone -
I'm on DSL, and the problem has only recently begun, which is what made me wonder about the earthquake possibility. However, I've noticed that my brand-new, state-of-the-art laptop has a tendency from time to time of locking up for what seems an eternity (but is really probably only a few seconds, but I'm impatient with it). Perhaps it's coincidental that it might lock up just when I've sent or are in the process of sending a reply and that could be what is causing the problem. It doesn't happen all the time, but rather it will occur several times in a row in one session, then not again for a couple of days. It's probably not a major issue, but I was just curious if I was the only sufferer!!
Cheers,

Forum problems - timed out messages2 Feb '07 9:18 am
There have been some server issues over the past week that made the forums slow and unresponsive, the 29th and 30th were the worst days.
Some of these problems are caused by spammers and miscreants. Most of the problems are sorted now.
We are buying our own server for the moosey forums sometime this year - hence all the ads plastered all over the main site. Having a server to ourselves will sort this out.
I don't trust web browsers and forums. Too many times I have written long posts and clicked submit only for the page and all of my hard work to disappear. Sometimes clicking the back button will get my text back, sometimes not.
If I am typing a long post I tend to use notepad or word and paste it into my web browser when I am done, that way if my browser or the forum crashes I don't lose everything I've typed.
Keep me posted (no pun intended...) on any problems. |

Hi, Eggy, and thanks for the explanation. It makes sense to me now! It's great to hear you're getting your own server!!

Kicked off log on8 Feb '07 6:20 pm
I don't know if this is related, but the last few days I often lose my 'logged on' status. I don't think it relates to our (ie school's) server problems, as it happens even when things are running beautifully fast...
PS Later: it throws up the adsbrite site address for a moment on the 'footer' before the log on page appears instead of the successful posting message. At other times it simply fails to log on at all. |
