30 Jan '07 2:49 am Today I will send you for the first time some of our new-style tiny/huge (!!)website photos!! With tiny wintery Ladybirds in them! Isn'it fantastic??
Well, I will tell you how I discovered them : I was out in the garden last Saturday early afternoon, trying to clean up the horrible mess around some coming bulbuous plants ; cutting back faded perennials, adding some fresh compost, you know... And then ,...what?? I see the first of them, sitting on a faded Chrysanthemum stem!! I run excited inside to bring my camera! And,.. here she is! Going on with my gardening, I discover the second one: sitting calmly on a Dianthus leave! And, here she is, too!
No, it was not sunny! It was rainy and damp, +7 Celsius! It is amazing to see, how quickly the lovely Ladybirds have been addapted to the new, Global Warming style climate! They even pretend they are sun-bathing!

Winter Ladybirds in the garden
31 Jan '07 3:38 am Liza, your excitement about the tiny Ladybirds is contageous. Talk about childlike wonder at the richness of our natural world. Beautiful. Hope they can find enough to eat in the winter garden, but then if they are out, other insects must be also.
