You're Welcome!29 Jan '07 11:10 am
Hi, Liza-
I'm glad you enjoyed my little soapbox speech! If you, or anyone else who read it, ever notices a source of the "odoratus" variety of Tellima, please let me know! I'd love to try them as well!
You know, as I've said a number of times, I have just a small garden, but I believe in packing it full (so the weeds can't grow! Tellimas seem to like it here very much, so I might as well have lots, don't you think!!
And I'm also pleased that you figured out why your Maidenhair died. TSK! TSK! Those stores!
Cheers!

More on Tellimas30 Jan '07 6:19 pm
Liza, you are a wonder!! Thank you SO much for your effort and for forwarding me the information. I've downloaded the description for printing and looked at each of the suggested nurseries. None of them offer seeds, and, of course, none can ship plants to Canada, but at least I know that the plants are grown somewhere, so there MUST be a source of seeds out there. All I have to do is to find it!!
I think I'll go back and look at the catalogues of those companies that offer them and, perhaps, email some of them to see whether they would be willing to sell me some seeds. You never know - the worst they can do is say, "No".
Thanks again!

Snow again!11 Feb '07 3:26 am
On Wednesday night, we had more snowfall, this time quite a bit more than a couple of weeks ago. I was already due to have Thursday off work (as I’m working today – Saturday – which is why I’m posting today!) so there was no guilt about leaving home late to wait for some of it to thaw (I hate driving in the snow, plus I have to drive down one hill and then up and down another hill to get to work so it’s hard work when the roads are bad!). Hubby called his school and found out that it was closed for the day, which was nice, so we could spend the day together.
The snow was quite thick - around 3 or 4 inches I think - and the cats were a little scared or apprehensive about it so they stayed inside most of the time, despite our having the back door open most of the time we were outside! Wooster just sat in the middle of the room, crying at us and Jeeves ventured out once then went back inside and settled down on his bed! Eventually, Wooster did come out and had a bit of a wander around, but by that time we'd cleared most of the snow whilst making our snowman! Because we don't actually have any children, we thought we'd be children ourselves and you can see the results below!
Unfortunately he didn't last very long though and I took a photo of him yesterday morning (Friday) when he'd melted a little . I also took some pics of the snowdrops when they'd poked their heads through again - v pretty!

Bambi, I loved your snowman!! I don't think I've ever seen one with ears before - he/she's SO cute!
As we've all said before, isn't fresh snow wonderful?? I could look at pictures of it over and over again! But, then, when it melts - oh, boy! I mean, just look at the "after" picture of your snowman!
And snowdrops - the brave little ones of the flower world - are such a joy when they stand up like that through the cold, cold snow!
I suppose that here, we'll have at least one more snowfall before the winter is over, but I really can't say that I'm looking forward to it!
All the best,
gordonf

I suspect Mr. Snowman has been on the booze by the looks of his slump in the last picture.
For shame. Tsk!

Dear Bambi, I loved your snow pictures and your adorable "Snowcat". I do miss having a little snow now and then. We haven't had snow here in several years, even a light dusting. But, this is so funny, this morning's newspaper featured a photo on the front page of a local father and son sledding on about four inches of snow in their yard. All the neighborhood children had come to sled. Guess where the snow came from? The dad had a compressor and a pressure washer, so he rigged up a snow making machine by adding some specialized spray nozzles to the pressure washer and mounting the hoses to posts to elevate them. All he needed were below freezing temperatures, which we definitely had, and he was in business. Voila! Snow! Of course, in upstate New York they would love to give away some of their snow. They currently have over 100 inches of snow in some areas. Up to the rooftops!
