Leeza or Lieza?????14 Dec '06 10:14 am
That was quite odd. I was wondering who the "guest" was????? Now I know... amd how do you pronounce your name phonectically?
You say you are Greek but now live in Belgium ... let's have little bit of history, please!
I find it difficult to answer messages because I can't see what what said before ... what am I doing wrong because this is different to the site I use dialy in England?
Muitas obrigadinhas!

History and pronounciation...14 Dec '06 10:28 am
Well, you can pronounce my name...in your heart, where it is only you that you will hear it! Pronounce it in the way you feel like it! I will always remain the same...Elisabeth! In fact, Liza= 'Leeza, or Liza = 'La-iza, are both correct pronounciations...
And it is all so simple : I am a Greek lady , born in Corfu, living for the last 12-13 years in Belgium/Waterloo. I moved here from Athens, with my family of four, six cats, and all my pot garden of happy and old-aged Mediterranean plants, which are still happily living with the rest of my garden plants..Nicholas, my 3d child, is born here, while the other two are grown-ups and are now visitors...And that's it! Very simple indeed!

Hi VickyB,
I've just read through this post from start to finish (I hope you don't mind me butting in on your conversation with lovely Liza! ), and I just wanted to say how wonderful and sad your story is - I swear I ad tears in my eyes whilst reading it! Firstly your beautiful Skwidj and Puschka - I'm sure you must have been absolutely distraught holding them while they went to sleep; but I hope you remember all the fun times and the affection that I'm sure they showed you during their happy lives.
I simply love your little resting site though, and the roses spilling out of the urn, so artistic!
Then when I read about how you found the two little kittens, still with their umbilical cords attached, I just cannot understand people sometimes - Liza is so right when she wonders why we use the word "animal" as an insult - surely "human" would be more appropriate?
However, onto more happy things, and to say that your pictures of your babies now are fantastic - I particularly like the one of little Cal, looking at you mischeivously from the tree branch! Magic Sam (great name!) and Candi are also simply gorgeous too!!
I have to admit, I laughed at your description of sleeping arrangements, because it reminded me of what goes on in my own house! Hubby's 6ft 3in so the cats don't have any room his side of the bed, but I'm only 5ft 4in so there's plenty my side and my little Jeevesey Boy sleeps between my feet, leaning up against my ankles and Wooster usually sleeps higher up, protected by my legs (she's a little bit more dependant on us than Jeeves, to the extent of pushing her way into the bathroom while one of us is showering and crying until we pay her some attention!! ). Neither sleep under the covers, although they do seem to love crawling inside the legs of trousers and arms of jumpers when they see one lying around! Or even a pillow-case!
Anyway, I digress. Thank you for sharing your heartwarming story with us Vicky, and hope to be hearing a lot more from you soon.

Your colours are lovely, too, Liza! I think my pink Margarida are very similar to your Anthemis but mine are from the Chrysanthemum family and yours the Chamomile. Ours come in white, pink and now a burgundy colour, which is lovely!
Thank you for your kind words, Bambi. It was fate that took us to Cal and Candi ... we were actually running an hour late that day. Had we gone out our normal time, they would not have been unceremoniously thrown there and I saw that because they could not have survivied in a plastic bag in 34oC heat! It doesn't bear thinking about!
You say about Cal being mischieviuos ... he is definitely that but not at the moment. We have just collected him from the vet and he is very groggy and wobbly and currently lying in front of a heater, poor poppet! We have arranged for Candi to be spayed on 18 January.
Here's Cal in a fun cheeky chappie shot ...

Names15 Dec '06 6:05 am
I forgot to say why C&C have their names. We have one bar/cafe/shop in our hamlet called O Candido. Candido means innocent or naive and what's funny about that is this bar has rude artefacts all over the place! Being a girl, she would have to be Candida. The hamlet is called Calvos which means bald and Cal had virtually no fur when he was born ... it's still thin compared to Candi's. So, they were named after where they were found!
And here they are about a week old (I think) in Valerie's hand and she is a tiny person!

Dear Vicky, once again I enjoyed so much your beloved animals news and darling photos! They are so tiny and helpless! God! How could anyone hurt such innocent, hepless creatures??
And who is ...tiny, lovely Valerie? --If I may ask....
And thank you so much for the botanical information! I never knew that and I truly enjoy learning!

Oh poor little Cal, I do hope he feels more like himself soon! If he's anything like my Jeevesey-boy, I'm sure he will - he was running around the day after we had him done, and we had to keep him separated from little Wooster (we had them done at the same time) as she took much longer to heal, understandably, and had to keep her silly collar-thing on for two weeks! Jeeves' came off very quickly though, but then he didn't have stitches. I will be thinking of little Candi on the 18th January too.
On another note, I love the pictures - I can't believe they were so small! Isn't amazing that something so small and helpless can become the rambunctious, cheeky and independent creatures we know for most of their lives? Their markings are gorgeous, too - I love Cal's little black nose surrounded by white!

Six Months Old30 Jan '07 12:53 am
Candi and Cal were six months old on the 13th of this month! We can hardly believe it as they are growing so quickly and both of them eat like horses!
Candi had her operation on the 18th. She was sick at first but then after a few days of grogginess she was back to her lovely self. In England they had done the operation through the side but here it was through her tummy, and a very neat job they did indeed. No lampshade to wear either and the would didn't seem to bother here.
So, here are the birthday babes ...
